My second morning in New Orleans was made special by the staff and food at the Ruby Slipper location on Decatur.

Everyone was friendly, and my server, Norman, was very helpful and informative about Ruby Slipper and food businesses of New Orleans. He also introduced me to Chef Pete, a sous chef at Sun Chong, where I had another lovely experience.

For breakfast, we decided to check out Ruby Slipper Cafe after seeing so many great reviews. When we arrived, there was a huge line — and that’s when we realized we had made a mistake by not reserving ahead of time. We simply didn’t expect it to be that busy.

Thankfully, the host was very polite and welcoming, and we were seated fairly quickly at the bar, which actually turned out to be a great, atmospheric spot with a lively brunch vibe.
