This is a great place. Sandwiches are made fresh. You can choose your own cheese or purchase one of their listed ones. There's plenty of seating. Parking is on the street.

I ordered a classic grilled cheese on sourdough and Mac & cheese, both with bacon.
The sandwich was hard and overcooked. In my opinion, burnt. I could not even taste the sourdough because it was overpowered by the taste of charring and carmelization. I don’t know why the sandwich was so hard. Either because it was burnt, or due to stale bread, I don’t know. None of the sandwiches in their Google maps photos appear burnt. They look normal and that’s what I had hoped for.
The Mac & cheese was better, but the bacon was also overcooked.
Perhaps these are personal preferences, but it was not a pleasant experience. I could not finish either item and the total with tax was $28.
Unfortunately I ordered via DoorDash, so I couldn’t go up to the counter and ask for it to be re-made. And I paid extra for priority delivery, so it arrived within 15 minutes. It was actually still too hot to eat when I unwrapped it, so it was freshly made.
The most disappointment per dollar spent on a meal in a long time.

I used to love coming here. Talking cheese with my favorite staff members, taking my time to find new items, and loved their lunch. Recently the staff has been terribly rude and some small micro agressions were exhibited. I don't think I'll ever come back. The food was touched by someone without gloves, the cashier had a terrible attitude (I was asked if I wanted a bag and she threw it at me instead of bagging my items), and the cheese I always buy was discolored and smelled awful. When I complained I was told this is how the cheese always is and if it's my first time trying to go with something more safe. I've been spending over $200 each time on cheese for 3 years now...this felt racially motivated and left a poor taste in my mouth. Don't come here unless you want to argue over quality and have a stale sandwich.

Around 1235pm on April 24, 2024 - I walked into this establishment. Was not greeted AT ALL. Actually the cashier was looking at me as if she seen a ghost - III had to speak first. Anyway, a man who is Caucasian was behind me and she acknowledged him first IMMEDIATELY, and was VERY friendly. I guess my skin was too dark, I won't be back again ?

I had the Mac and cheese here and it was very good. The Mac and cheese was some of the best I have ever had only behind some others. The seating was nice and the people working their were very nice. Overall I recommend you go their.

Cute little restaurant and cheese shop tucked away on Prytania St. They have a very nice outdoor seating area. You order inside and your food is brought to you. It can get a little crazy during typical lunch times. We started with the olive plate and pickle plate. I had the Parmigiano Reggiano salad. It consisted of mixed greens with salami, black olives, grilled artichoke hearts, walnuts, Parmigiano Reggiano with a Dijon vinaigrette dressing. Since it was Good Friday I had them hold the salami. My husband ordered the Mostro sandwich. This had ham, provolone, pickled red onions, tomato, greens and basil pepperoncini mayo on a ciabatta bread. He really enjoyed the sandwich. Service was a bit slow but it was very crowded. We sat outside as it was a very pleasant day. I would not hesitate to return.

We stopped by for some lunch and weren't disappointed. The il Mostro was one big nice sandwich. A pile of meat and tasty soft bread; hard to go wrong there. Everything was fresh and service was quick. The hot mozzarella with tomato was one melty dream. The pesto was not overpowering like some other places. Outside seating was nice, we had plenty of room for our dog too. Total package lunch spot.
