These losers pay for their 5 star rating bar to be filled even though it amounts to probably 70% of their reviews. Worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Being not even sat would have been better. DISGUSTING steak. Obviously frozen. Rude as could possibly be on service. Trust me, this steakhouse is masochistic’s heaven. You have zero authority on what’s good or not if you find this place to be good.

Didn’t even have a chance to eat here. Someone barely pushed open the door that was locked (2 mins till open) and walked off. Door slammed shut before being able to walk in. Took that as a sign and went elsewhere.

By far the sorriest excuse for a steak restaurant I’ve ever been to. Besides being treated like murderers for showing up at at 7:40 on a Friday night (I served tables for 10 years, sure it’s annoying when people show up right before close…. But 45mins to an hour before close……???), the steak was easily the worst I’ve ever had…That sums it up.Take your money right up the road to Rizzuto’s Ristorante and Chophouse (get the Spinalis), or ANY of the following places for a steak:Chophouse, Charlie’s, Crescent City Steak House, Doris Metropolitan, Clancy’s, Galitoire’s, Ruth’s, although none of these names should even be mentioned in the same 5 or 10 breaths as “the Steak Knife.”

I have never experienced a ruder owner than I did at The Steak Knife Restaurant tonight. I do NOT recommend going especially with bigger parties. We went with a group of us for a friend’s birthday and haven’t seen each other in a while. We were towards the end of our dinner and the owner walked over and in the RUDEST tone ever said “yall are being too loud.” And we asked if he was joking or being serious because there’s no way that this guy was coming over and saying that to us SO RUDELY without it being a joke. We were laughing and having a great time, but we were not overly loud…. And if we were being overly loud, there is a nicer way of asking us to please lower our voices. He ruined the mood and I will NEVER come back again. I am appalled by the way this man spoke to us. I will say our waiter was excellent and it wasn’t his fault. I feel bad for him having to work for someone like that. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

Looking for delicious steaks and the best ambiance in Lakeview?! You just give them a try. The food, service and location are great - one of fav local, neighborhood spots. You actually have 3 sections to dine - main dining room, bar dining area (my fav, walk in and grab a seat) and the actual bar! So cute and quant. I always order the same thing the the food is so consistent. Here are a few of my favs: crabmeat salad, oysters, fresh fish of the day, and of course the filet mignon with creamed spinach and au gratin on the side!!! *Locally owned and operated by the Roth Family and serving New Orleanians for 40 years. Creamed Spinach, Fried Oysters, Garlic Spinach, Gulf Fish Robert, Pinot Noir,

After surviving hurricanes and a fire, this family-owned restaurant has thrived in the Lakeview neighborhood. It hasn't caved to the increased prices of other steak restaurants but instead continues to provide a quality dining experience for families, business dinners and other clientele. The service is impeccable, the wine and drink prices are reasonable and competitive, the food is rich and savory. Our only critique is that they are not open for longer hours. The Steak Knife is a real treat!

We stopped in late night for drinks and a snack. Bartender is awesome and makes one of the best Brandy Alexander's!! We had a driver for the evening so we had a second and a lovely dessert - love the service, friendly atmosphere, and general feel of the restaurant. We will definitely go back for full dinner! Menu appears extensive and interesting. Kind of a vintage warm and cozy feel!

Customer service when entering was very underwhelming. Took a while for someone to greet us. Seemed as though the owners didn’t care, maybe because we didn’t look the part. Fried eggplant had no flavor. Steak was pretty good, besides it being a little on the salty side. Our waitress was extremely nice and helpful. If it wasn’t for her I’m not sure we would go back.

Our party of two was shown promptly to a nice table in the main dining room. We gave our server, the five-star Jonathan, our drink orders and while we were waiting, we saw the hostess fall (quite gracefully, honestly) out of her shoe. A table near us managed to catch a napkin on fire and did not realize it for entirely too long. Jonathan made sure we knew more bread was available, if we wanted it, twice. When my husband asked for his steak as rare as possible, Jonathan asked us "Pittsburgh?" We replied "What?" and that was the end of that line of questioning. Our meals came in a very timely fashion and our steaks were cooked perfectly. When it came time for dessert, we were told creme brulee was an option; then, apologetically, Jonathan informed us they did not have any because the old lady who used to make them had died and the new ones were just okay. Steak Knife provided us with dinner and a show and we highly recommend.

Steaks were good. Sides were mediocre. Sautéed mushrooms are definitely out of a can.Tables are VERY small. So if you have a party of four, when making reservations I would tell them you have 6 so you can have 2 tables pushed together. We had 2 tables empty next to us all night, and when I asked the waiter if he could push one to ours, he told me no.

This place is a gem! Everything from the time you walk in. My husband and I sat at the bar which is a beautiful set up where you can eat and enjoy your meal. There's also a full service dining room completely separate from the bar. This place is such a treat, our favorite so we have basically tried everything on the menu. The apps are so fresh the smoked salmon served w cream cheese and toast points topped w capers, Yumm! The crab claws are meaty w tons of flavor and the onion rings, thin and crispy just so good. If you like escargot you will love the way this one is prepared! I could go on but let me tell y'all about the steaks. I love the filet MR it comes on a sizzling plate drizzled w fresh butter. My husband went for the ribeye R, also on a bubbling buttery plate, talk about cleaning his plate! Everything is made to order so it's nice to try a Caesar salad while you wait for the main course. Another win! The complementary bread and butter is even that good. Try the cream spinach, we went for the augratin potatoes as well! It's so hard to chose a side, there's plenty to choose from all delicious! Don't forget to inquire about their specialty chocolate Martini for dessert! If you have never been you truly are missing out! Chef's Kiss!Dietary restrictions: If you are watching your waist line no worries!
