After weeks of researching restaurants for my vacation, I was excited to try Sun Chong. This place is in my top 10 of favorite restaurants in this COUNTRY. This place saved my NOLA experience!!! The etouffee dumplings, the beef bao buns, the Korean tenders…..amazing!! I’m actually mad we found this place on our last night here. I tried to convince my husband to go back hours later. We went for my daughter’s birthday and although the food was good, it wasn’t the elevated Asian fusion I was expecting for the price range. We had the crab Rangoon dip, the crawfish rice, the Korean tenders, and the short ribs. The short ribs were the best thing at the table. The biggest issue we had is the restaurant was so hot, we had to eat in a hurry to get some fresh air so it truly dulled the experience.
We walked by this place several times, it was always busy and the menu looked great. As tourists, we had never heard of it. We made this our last stop before we left New Orleans and we are glad we did.
The restaurant is beautiful, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We came during happy hour and ordered the crab Rangoon dip and along with the Korean tenders.
