It’s dark, it’s cool, and they’ll play 60’s/70’s rock gems as the house music. The food is pretty good too. This is my favorite spot I’ve found after several years living in The Quarter.
The vibe is perfect.
Its the darkness and the music that really makes me not want to leave. It’s rock’n’roll without being a dive.
Oh yeah, did I say the food is pretty good too?
Above all, you MUST order the seared scallops and artichoke appetizer. Fan-freaking-tactic! The Black Manhattan is excellent — except is was stirred long enough so it was nearly lukewarm when brought to the table. Great flavor, but disappointed at how warm it was. (An extra point for Luxardo cherries. Seriously. How can a restaurant claim they serve cocktails if they don’t use Luxardo cherries????)

Sylvain is a charming bar in the French quarter, boasting a beautiful garden and cozy interior. The restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with strung lights, plants, and a fun garden patio. The interior features a bit cramped but comfortable space with old wood floors and a brick-lined building that adds to its character. Friendly and knowledgeable staff serve top-quality food with full flavor. The menu includes dishes like the short ribs and fried chicken sandwich, which are highly recommended. The drinks menu is impressive, with standout options like the Sazerac and Fernet and Cola, made with in-house ingredients. The cocktails here are spectacular! Service remains excellent even when busy, and reservations are suggested as it fills up quickly. The vibe is fun and relaxed, with some guests noting the "too dark too loud" shirts. Many visitors enjoy brunch, praising the service, food, and atmosphere, especially the chicken and grits and the Benedict with creamed kale. The food is often described as absolutely amazing, with dishes like the Market Place salad, cornbread, fried zucchini, and cauliflower Caesar receiving high praise. The crispy bass is also a highlight. Sitting outside is popular, as it offers a pleasant environment with fans and comfortable temperatures. Overall, Sylvain is known for its unique charm and delicious food, making it a must-visit spot in the area.
