The courtyard is very charming and it had all the makings of a beautiful classy place. The service was quite slow. We didn't get a drink for 35 minutes. The portions were small (though the food was delicious). Lastly, there was a table of wildly drunk bros nearby watching a baseball game on their phone. Just not what I was expecting.Wait, also, the "mixed olives" were 80% kalamata.

Let me tell yall something... the way I am still drooling weeks later having dreams about this restaurant... gotta be top 5 places I've ever eaten. I'm wasting no time, we're going straight into the food. The Elysian Bar is on the InKind app and received a James Beard nomination, that was the main reason I wanted to go. That's how I knew ~generally~ it was goin to be good. I should have known from the definition of "elysian" before I went, cus truly I was in paradise. We started with the beef tartare and the focaccia. This set the tone of the entire meal. When I say ONE MILLION out of 10. I have never eaten something so profoundly flavorful. It was almost all-encompassing. We had a friend who couldn't make it and i felt so bad for them ? we gobbled that right down and moved to the salad. Again, I don't know what they put into that salad, but it had to be straight serotonin and MSG. 50 out of 10. At that point our cocktails came, all beautiful and I got to try each one. I don't remember the names but I do remember not being able to decide which one I enjoyed the most. They were all TOO good. Next came the shrimp, and if anything, the shrimp were the one thing I wouldn't need to eat again. They were good but not the start of the show for me. What I will say however is that shrimp BROTH ? OHHHH we ordered another focaccia just to sop up all that liquid. If you brought me a bowl of that broth it wouldn't even be PROBLEMMMMM. Soooooooooo flavorful. I think next came the chicken with the burbon aioli and glazed turnip. It looked simple but I promise you that was simply the best chicken I've ever eaten in my entire life. And the way it was so juicy..... diabolical. 50 out of 10. The gnocchi took me out. I was truly about to burst open at that point. The gnocchi was the winner for me. So rich and butter and creamy and deep in flavor, and with the lemon breadcrumbs on top???? HELLO??????? 100 out of 10. Ooof i needed something cold and citrusy by the time we were done with the food, and they had the perfect dessert. It was an ice cream sandwich with a lemony ice cream and lavender shortbread cookie buns. Truly the essence of elysian... I almost fell asleep right there. This meal was so special to me. We ate in the "Parlor" section but they let us walk around and see the rest of the spectacular space that I later discovered is a HOTEL where you can stay and eat the food all day. I cried. 400 out of 10 meal. Maybe even 1 billion out of 10. Lord. I will be back. I interacted with so many people: Kyle, Emma, Han, Hope, Kendra, Adai. All super friendly and all deserve the biggest raise. So much queer energy. I felt right at home. This is the first place I will be going when I return to the city.

I been waiting to attend this place for a long time. It was on my bucketlist to try. It was my girlfriend birthday and I never been so ignored in my life. We did not have a reservation and was a walk in. The host was nice unfortunately the service was terrible. We sat for 20 minutes and I saw the server coming my way. And he walk right past us and talk the table across from us.

Maybe the finest place to grab a cocktail, lunch and conversation in NOLA. Do not sleep on this.

food was subpar for the price but the setting was beautiful. Staff was lackluster. They made it seem like we were lucky to be their guests. they turned a house of God into a restaurant.

Beautiful place to drink and dine. We loved our cocktails and the food! Customer Service could have been improved but we understand everyone has a once in a while less than kind evening.

A little pricey, but worth it in my opinion for good food and drinks and outside the college level of drinking. We'll worth it for the time and pleasant atmosphere.

Cool bar in a rectory, right next to the church. Innovative cocktails and really nice service

According to the hostess, this was originally an old rectory that they renovated and turned into a charming, warm and inviting space with kitschy seating. Upon entering, there is a dining space similar to a front room that leads into a livingroom complete with a fireplace. If you walk down the hallway, there is a curtained dining nook as well as an indoor patio and a lively bar area. They also have a super cute outdoor, open air dining space with plenty of seats. The house made focaccia was very delicious and a must! The oysters were good as they were from the east coast. We really enjoyed the roasted gulf shrimp, but we were not told that the heads would be on nor is it written in the description on the menu; so be prepared. Our main dishes consisted of the chicken under a brick and the daily fish of halibut. Both dishes were delicious! They only have two options for dessert and our chocolate tart did not look like the photo on their website but it was still good. The lavender semifreddo was fire! I couldn't stop eating it!Our waitress did a good job but there were a few things overlooked, like not being cognizant of empty water glasses, letting dishes pile up and not changing out our silverware and plates, however, she was in training, so we didn't say anything. This is definitely a neighborhood gem and not to be missed.

We were very excited to try this recommended NOLA spot. A church that has been completely converted into a restaurant but kept the aesthetics: yes please! We showed up right at our reservation time of 8:15 and we're seated immediately on the patio. However we weren't greeted by our server for close to 15 minutes even though she kept passing by our table (the restaurant was not busy). We ordered our cocktails and it took another 15 minutes. The next time our server came over we ordered another round of beverages and all of our food as we sensed a "lackadaisical" trend. For the first course it took a significant amount of time to come out as well, though I must mention it was superb: roasted carrots with pickled beets and a pistachio gremolata. The entrees came out shortly after and were OK. I ordered a house made fettuccini with chili oil and topped with crab and my husband the tri-tip steak with basically burnt broccolini. The cost for what was received was not worth it. My husband and I joke that we should have just cancelled and enjoyed a Slapburger at Maria's Bar down the way (highly recommend this place, awesome dive bar). I have to say we would not recommend to friends and family.

Hotel Peter and Paul’s Elysian Bar in New Orleans offers a dining experience that effortlessly combines exquisite cuisine with a captivating European aesthetic, making it a cherished destination for both locals and travelers. This unique venue, housed within the historic walls of a beautifully restored church, schoolhouse, convent, and rectory, brings an unparalleled charm and sophistication to the heart of the city. The European flair of the Elysian Bar is immediately apparent, providing guests with an ambiance that's both elegant and inviting. The attention to detail in the decor, from the carefully selected furniture to the tasteful art, transports diners to a chic cafe tucked away in a European city. The abundance of outdoor seating adds to the appeal, offering a pleasant al fresco dining experience reminiscent of a Parisian terrace.A standout feature of the Elysian Bar is its innovative beverage program, which includes an array of mocktails that are as delightful to the palate as they are to the eye. A recent addition, a ginger mocktail, exemplifies this perfectly. Paired with a semifreddo cookie, it's an ideal choice for those warm New Orleans days, offering a refreshingly light and satisfying treat that balances sweetness and spice beautifully.

Despite staying for multiple nights at Hotel Peter + Paul, and there being multiple (I saw three) tables open in the main room and the yellow room, (same ones when we arrived and much after we left), the host couldn’t give us a better seat than at the bar. He said he would check in with us but never did, when we were leaving for the day he gave a nice seat to two women however with no reservation. At the bar, the bartender was very grumpy and never greeted us or refreshed our water. The Shakshuka was unfortunately not nearly as good as when I had it at a previous stay here and the Bloody Mary’s were subpar. We’re an lgbt couple and wear black, not sure if that factored into the treatment received. I recommend the host receive more training, as there’s no way multiple tables had a “very last minute cancellation.” Edit: Found out it was the general manager I was dealing with, wow is all I have to say.

The general manager here is terrible. We are staying at the hotel, and asked to be seated for breakfast. The manager said they were all booked but would check in with us if there were cancellations. He did not and we were stuck in the back which was very dark and with the unfriendly bartender. When we left the same tables that were open when we arrived were still available. We’re an lgbt couple and wear black. He seated two women with no reservation as we were leaving. He made excuses but it was obvious he was very inattentive, biased or both.

So glad we stumbled upon this church converted into a hotel/bar. The interior is stunning, from every restored piece of furniture. I’m sure all their cocktails are delicious but we tried their spritz + pimms royale. So good.
