I had dinner at the bar alone. The Bartender Bex made me feel very welcome and helped me with selecting menu items that suited my taste. The shrimp dish had all the flavors in perfect harmony. But, the shrimp were mushy with a strong Betadine taste. The catch of the day was salmon. Which I find very perplexing because there is no catch of the day and this part of Louisiana that would include Ssalmon, and however, less than an hour of the road, you can get fresh catch speckled trout, redfish, black drum, some of the best fishing in the whole country. It always amazes me how restaurants in the city of New Orleans can serve such things as their catch of the day when we have fresh shrimp, and fresh fish galore at our fingertips.
All of this, I have to say the bartender Bex And her delightful, cheerful personality made up for everything. Also, she’s the only bartender back there holding up happy hour and making drinks for the entire restaurant solo. In fact, one of the servers walked by and I asked her if I could have a glass of rosé. Because Bex was busy making other drinks. She replied to me I will let your server know. Then poured me a glass of wine herself 15 minutes after I asked for it. All I could say is thank you. It was obvious it was a very deliberate move on her part because she was hanging out talking to other weight staff and making drinks for other people as I watched.
BEX is the BEST!!!!!!

A reliable place in the Marigny for a drink or small plates. Last time we went they were out of two of the four white wines on offer. Friends reported the hamburger and vegetable pasta were good. It’s all sort of good enough; we always seem to come here after we can’t get into Paladar 511, which is a step up. Service was very good.

ummm. wow. I didn't know what to expect, but it far exceeded my expectations. I am a bit of foodie and the wine and foods, albeit from a small menu, was truly amazing. I got the shrimp which was one of the best dishes i have ever eaten. Wait staff was just the right of amount of weird an friendly. Highly recommend. Great place that captures what Marginy is all about.

The mushroom appetizer was weird, watery, tough and downright disappointing. Too many tough stems, too much water and not enough slices of the unfortunately ice-cold baguette. When seeing this dish on the menu, we were envisioning those wonderful mushrooms from Mimi’s that we are still longing for.

I’ve honestly had a better Chicken Parm at Olive Garden at half the price. The chicken was beaten thin, fried tough and chewy, not juicy and moist as it should have been, especially for a dish that cost $36 after tip. The garlic pasta was precooked and tasted several days old. The cheese and sauce were and afterthought as there was nothing great about this dish.

The fish special was Amberjack with asparagus and a hash cake. The fish was spectacular and perfectly cooked. The potato hash cake was not a cake, it was an overcooked sauté as the ‘hash’ was oddly gummy and not crisp. It resembled vomit and was texturally disgusting.

There was no visible management working the floor. One of the fine dining waitstaff was dressed nicely in a shirt and tie, the other looked less professional in a faded old band Tshirt. Our server was just too busy to pick up our finished plates, even when she was slowly hovering over us asking if we needed anything.

The Franklin has seen better days! For the money, there are mush better establishments in the area.

The menu changes, which some people might not like but it’s the reason I’ve been back so many times. You can’t even get that at Commander’s Palace any more. They must have an actual chef that’s proud of trying some new. Hard to find in a city that’s leaning towards serving up the same old thing to tourists.
Also, the drinks are great. They have a real mixologist here.

This has been my local haunt for years. As I open this to write a review, I am shocked that this will be my first. Had yet another wondrous happy hour here. We sat at the bar and River was the bartender. I’ve been here through many iterations but I’d like to commend River for making the best martini that I’ve ever had there. And then making it exactly as great for round two. I’ll be back over and over of course, but it’s important to spill my love here.

This place shouldn’t have that many stars… 2-3 would be fair. I love a good chicken parm… their’s is alright. It’s expensive for what you get. The lollipop dish is well done. If you go, go for happy hour.
