I would caution solo diners before dining here. After reviewing reservations on OpenTable, I called to confirm that outdoor seating for dinner was the only option. The host was firm, sharing "we are fully booked this evening, only {heated} outdoor seating is available" I decided I'd walk by the restaurant just to see if a bar seat was made available and the server shared "Awww I'm so sorry, the last two bar seats were just taken", after a few taps on the iPad screen. I asked if I could be sat outside & he said "yes". I kindly advised him I'd like to book my reservation on OpenTable so I could get my Opentable points. I stepped outside added a credit card to the reservation and miraculously bar seating was available. I waited 15 minutes, went back inside and acted brand new. And guess what ..... I was sat at the bar. The host kinda smirked and said "oh yes". As if he perhaps had remembered a previous dialogue. I watched every other guest be treated differently. When seating guests, the host gladly removed the reserved sign, asked what type water they would prefer & offered exemplary service, even stepping behind the bar to assist those newly sat guests. I on the other hand sat with my menu the entire meal, the brass reserved sign was never removed and I truly felt forgotten. Sitting with empty bread basket, finished & empty {lasagna} plate. The meal was delicious & the bartender needed extra hands. The experience didn't feel very welcoming. The owner of the restaurant jumped behind the bar to assist with washing glassware. At the very end of my meal as I was waiting for my check to be closed out, he asked if I was finished with the menu. I jokingly said "many moons ago". Something just felt very off - and the only conclusion was: I was dining alone. I quietly departed.

My Husband and I had the most Fantastic time with Food, amazing Staff and as usual, the perfect ambiance:). Ian (Hope I'm spelling his name correctly) was so charming and so accommodating during our Thanksgiving lunch! I tell everyone that this restaurant is My Favorite in New Orleans for so many reasons!! We lucked into the Italian barrel one evening, situated on the edge of the French quarter and near Frenchman Street. Service was STELLAR! I must specifically mention our server Conner, for making a delightful experience! Our dishes were excellent. The lasagna, many times a very heavy meal, was pleasantly fresh and light. Portions sizes are just right. Definitely will be returning!

The new Italian Barrel is incredibly improved in every way: creative classy comfortable ambiance, imported ingredients, family recipes, and overall experience. We had an impressive dinner, will be back, and highly recommend. Kudos to the new proprietors for the best Italian in the best food city in the nation.

The lobster ravioli was delectable. The strawberry and rosemary fermented soda was so refreshing. Connor provided stellar service. And it was amazing to have the manager stop by our table to ensure we were enjoying the meal.

This is a lovely restaurant. The food was great and our server was great. My salad and lasagna were so yummy. My dessert was presented in a really fun way. And it is a short walk to Frenchman Street. My husband and I walked there after dinner. Such a wonderful dinner and night. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Conner was fantastic, the service was great and the food was delicious. We went in with our 2 year old and our 7 month old. Normally it’s a hassle but they helped out a lot and the atmosphere was very family friendly!
For a starter, we had the bruschetta. The bread was slightly tough and chewy, but the tomatoes and basil on top were absolutely delicious. Our second course was a Caprese salad made with sliced tomatoes, burrata cheese, and shards of basil. It would have been enhanced with a bit of salt or a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. We tried three different entrées. My daughter had the penne alla vodka with crab, which she said was wonderful. My wife ordered their special—mushroom ravioli—and she thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the osso buco; the shank was slightly tough, still had the strings around it, and even had a toothpick left in it. However, the polenta underneath was soft, creamy, and delicious. The ragu on top was a bit lacking in flavor.

We had a lovely dinner at the Italian Barrel. Our waiter Blake was awesome and was very patient and very helpful with the wine selection. We had the meatball, prosciutto with melon, spaghetti bolognaise, pasta scampi and espresso cream brûlée and pistachio dessert. We will gladly recommend this restaurant to our friends and family in Oz. Thank you Blake for making the dining experience special.
