Absolutely love this place and have enjoyed some great jazz and great evenings here. Nayo Jones being one of our favorites. Unfortunately, the only night they were open during our recent stay Big Sam was playing and I can’t think of a more inappropriate group to play at such a venue. Other than the lousy music and poor showmanship, they spent more time promoting the tip jar than they did entertaining the audience.

If you love jazz and intimate settings, then The Jazz Playhouse is where you need to be, and soon! We brought a group of travel advisors to the Playhouse for an evening to listen to Richard 'Piano' Scott and his band. They were excellent, they took requests from the audience, and the vibe and feel and mood of the place was fun.

In addition, everyone ordered off the menu. Although most of the food items come across as appetizers, they do serve a decent amount of food. Of note are the fried alligator, chicken and waffles, and wedge salad. Good food!

The ambiance of the Playhouse also makes it feel very special. It's not a large place, but it is insulated from the outside noise of Bourbon Street. It's also important to note that the Playhouse is inside the Royal Sonesta Hotel.

We look forward to a return visit as we just fell in love with the place. Keep up the great work!

We had a fantastic time. The band really engages the crowd and it is an intimate enough club that everyone has a great seat and interacts with the band.
