We stayed at The Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans for Valentine’s Day, expecting the level of professionalism and security that a luxury, Waldorf-affiliated property claims to uphold. What we experienced instead was shocking and unacceptable. This is not the first time we have had issues at this hotel—but this visit confirmed a serious and ongoing problem with guest property security and staff accountability. One week prior to our Valentine’s stay, my wife had been at the hotel and scheduled a late checkout (4:00 PM). She accidentally left a hot curling iron in the room to cool. Due to extreme traffic and the fact that we were already returning the following weekend, she immediately called the hotel and asked that the item be retrieved and held at the front desk. She was later told the curling iron was “not there,” despite being informed that the room had not yet been cleaned. At 2:00 PM, before housekeeping had entered, the item had already “disappeared.” We were disappointed but chose to give the hotel another chance. On February 13, 2026, during our Valentine’s weekend stay—again with a confirmed late checkout—we left early in the morning for a spa appointment at the Four Seasons. During her massage, my wife realized she had accidentally left a $3,500 Van Cleef necklace in our Roosevelt hotel room. At approximately 12:30 PM, well before checkout and while the room was still supposed to be secured, we immediately contacted hotel security. Security claimed they had “checked the room” and found nothing. When my wife called back seeking clarity, she was met with dismissive and rude responses, including statements such as “we know what we are doing” and “we are not going back to check.” No empathy, no escalation, no effort. To make matters worse, we have a family member who lives directly across the street and offered to come over immediately to look for the necklace. The hotel refused to allow this. This represents a pattern of missing personal property, combined with hostile and unprofessional handling by security staff, and a complete lack of guest advocacy. For a hotel of this caliber, this is deeply concerning. I strongly recommend that anyone considering staying at The Roosevelt do not leave personal belongings in your room—ever. Based on our experience, you will not recover them, and you should not expect meaningful assistance from hotel management or security. Luxury is not just chandeliers and history—it is trust. Unfortunately, The Roosevelt failed completely

Stay far away from the bar in the bottom floor of this hotel, called The Sazerac Bar. The woman bartender is the rudest biggest piece of sh*t I’ve ever encountered in a bar, and I come from a lifelong career in bars. A group of friends and I went to the bar on the night of Friday 12/19/2025 and when a couple of us tried to ask the female bartender about a specific drink, she told us to “get the f*ck” which blew us away. Then when she came back, we simply told her we had a question about a certain drink and she replied with “Jesus Chr*st, go f*ck yourself”. We couldn’t believe our ears, so we left. Upon walking off, another couple who overheard it said she did the same thing to them. FIRE THE B*TCH!

Was told by the bartender that she didn't know how to make an Irish coffee. This from the great supposed bar in New Orleans.

We visited this bar multiple times during our stay in NOLA. It was usually loud and crowded. The bartenders weren't the friendliest people we met. But the drinks were (by a very long margin) the best drinks we had in the city - which is saying something, since we each had at least one mixed drink at every restaurant we ate at during our visit.

Recommendations: Gin Fizz, whatever else they are offering

The experience here is top notch! Racheal was the best mixologist I've ever met. I'm a bartender. She not only served the namesake Saserac above expectation, but also made the best Old Fashioned I've ever had! Rachael was my bartender, although the entire bar staff is incredibly professional, and consistently provide amazingly delicious libations. Will return, and highly recommend!

The Sazerac Bar was far too busy and loud for me. I went to the Fountain Lounge next door in the hotel, and I’m just over the moon. Duc was my server, and he took such exceptional care. Loved my Sazerac drink, and the cheese board: wow! I will definitely return. Loved every minute. Thank you, Duc.

This bar was excellent! We stopped in before a show at the Saenger Theater, and we got a Coffee House Sazerac and a Chocolate Cherry Bomb. The drinks were beautifully crafted, unique, and tasty. The place is of course gorgeous as it’s set up inside the Roosevelt Hotel. It’s upscale, so you’ll be paying premium prices. As long as you’re prepared for that, it’s worth it.
