Adding a 20% service fee is insane. I realize the justification, but it seems like leadership is scraping the livelihood from FoH and distributing it among the staff in an effort to pay them less.

Update: just went back for a third time. Service was excellent today. CDe made sure to take great care of us. Borros quesadillas were amazing. All the salsas were perfectly made. Love this spot!
Been here twice now. Sat at the bar the first time and on the patio today. Both times, we were super impressed with the quality of the food. Today, we started with the salsas and guaca, the wife got the fish and shrimp tacos, and I got the birria burrito. Salsas were all delicious, guac was great, tacos were really good, and the birria burrito was incredible (and huge). Their house margs are excellent, too! Great patio, both shaded and in full sun. Huge bar seating. All around fantastic spot!

It took our server 15 minutes to greet us. He never checked on us through the experience and there was still a 20% service charge added. It’s kind of ridiculous
Val’s has a nice ambience. The food is ok, but not worth the price or the 20% add on to your ticket for service. We went during lunch hour and it was empty. I have a feeling this place is about to close down. Want a delicious taco and great ambience without a service go to Barracuda. So sad to see a business die.
