We visited Val’s for the first time on Saturday for Freret Fest. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and the margaritas. Tacos and service were top notch. We can’t wait to go back for the food, drinks and good vibes.

Pros: Val's is a beautiful taco restaurant on Freret. The hostess and server were very nice. The food is delicious.Cons: The music is way too loud, and it's hard to hear one another talk. Our waitress forgot to bring my husband's margarita and brought his sour cream after he had finished his food, which is why I took off a star. I took off another start because they include a 20% tip. I can't support restaurants who use this business model. Especially considering they forgot a drink and brought the sour cream after my husband ate and still charged for it, I would have gone down to 18% or maybe 15%. If the restaurant wants to ensure that their servers make fair wages, then pay them more. I can't support this business model and won't be back. I would rather see higher prices than a tip included at 20%. This model does not inspire excellent service. Rather it forces us to tip at a high percent regardless of the service.

Great spot with good food and an even better atmosphere. They started taking reservations a few months ago though which is annoying. It doesn't feel like a reservation kind of place.
It was a good spot that I randomly found while in town. And I must say, I wasn't disappointed. The host, the servers, bartenders and food was on point. When I come back into town I'll go back!

Such a cute place! We were going to eat at another restaurant near by, but they couldn’t accommodate. Walked to Vals and they were so quick! The food and drinks were amazing and the staff were so sweet! Definitely want to come back with some friends when I visit again.

Made a reservation for Valentine's Day here after my girlfriend mentioned how amazing the food was, and I definitely agree! She was raving on and on about this place after she tried it for the first time, and I totally get why now. The elote appetizer was phenomenal, and came with four warm, savory and delectable pieces of corn covered in cheese and chili Mayo. The chicken tinga tacos were delicious, juicy, a little messy but so filling! I also ordered the chips and tatemado salsa, which was addicting, and the Nutella cake for dessert. The service was so quick, and everyone was so friendly. The ambiance of the restaurant was very warm, welcoming and they played lots of great music! I will definitely be back
