Disappointing Experience for Locals – A Bar That Doesn’t Allow Dinner When It Should
As locals who live just a few blocks away, my pool team and I visit this bar fairly often, though it’s not our usual spot. We were there on Wednesday night because our pool league had us scheduled at this location, and unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired.
We arrived around 5 PM and were planning to stay until 11 PM for the duration of our league game. The bar offers basic snacks like mozzarella sticks and nachos, but given that we would be there for several hours, we hoped to order something more substantial to eat.
Before bringing in outside food, we checked with the staff to see if it would be alright. We couldn’t imagine it would be an issue, considering the bar’s minimal food offering. However, the staff refused to accommodate our request, even though it was clear that they could not serve us a meal that would meet our needs.
It’s not that the bar needs to serve full dinner; we understand that some places stick to snacks or a limited menu. But when you offer such minimal food options, it seems like basic customer service to allow customers to bring in something to eat. Especially when we’re already committing to staying there for hours, spending money on drinks and other services. Instead, the staff stuck to an arbitrary, inflexible policy, leaving us feeling as though they were more interested in making a quick profit off tourists than offering any basic accommodation for regulars like us.
What’s especially frustrating is that this bar is located in the CBD and mainly caters to tourists. As locals who frequently visit, we expected a little more flexibility and understanding. We weren’t asking for anything unreasonable—just the ability to have a meal while we stayed there. Unfortunately, the staff seemed more interested in enforcing rigid rules than making sure their customers were satisfied.
This bar isn’t our usual spot, but we had hoped it would be a convenient place for our pool league. After tonight’s experience, though, it’s hard to justify coming back. If you’re a local, be prepared to feel like you’re not a priority. I can’t recommend this place if you're looking for a spot that treats regular customers with the same respect they show tourists.
