Loved Willie Mae's the best bartender was Jasmine and her passion lemon drops Gumbo Corn bread and fried chicken I can't wait to go back now and I've been to Nola like 8x and had never stopped in A must now on my list
The service was excellent. The fried chicken was great. The mac and cheese was like Velveeta mac and cheese. I liked it, but it wasn't Southern. The green beans and cabbage were overcooked. The sage seasoning in the cabbage was too strong. For the price, they should be cooking the vegetables fresh.
Fried chicken was best I've ever had, which includes Ad Hoc from Thomas Keller. Service was also the best, she took great care of us. Will come back again for sure
Love Willie Mae's ! It's changed a bit with the new location - the chicken is still the best in the world. They didn't serve the sweet peas like they used to , but have extended the menu . I got the cafe au lait crème brûlée which was amazing ! So definitely excited about that. All they need is chargrilled oysters anf no need to go anywhere else lol
The service for our large group was A+. Everyone was happy with the food. The background music was a little too loud to carry on a conversation.
I had a great experience dining here with a large party of eight. Briana was extremely helpful and made sure we were well accommodated from the moment we walked in. The food was delicious, especially the chicken and waffles. The chicken was seasoned perfectly with just the right amount of spice. The ambiance was lively, and the DJ kept the energy going. We were celebrating my mom's birthday, and they even brought out beignets, which was a really thoughtful touch. Overall, an excellent experience
Don't even second guess it...all the plates here hit the soul. The fried chicken and catfish not only have a satisfying crunch- they're incredibly well seasoned. Our table shared sides of mac and cheese, butter beans and rice, jambalaya and red beans and rice- all fantastic, and the bean dishes are vegan, very thoughtful. Maybe next time we'll have room for dessert. There was a dj playing- he did a great job of setting the vibe, playing for everyone in the room while keeping the music at a level where you could still enjoy a conversation at your table. The service was great, Joe took great care of us, and we'll definitely be back.
The gumbo and fried chicken were fantastic. The food was brought out quickly. We went on a weekend and the live DJ was a bit loud but great atmosphere.
The chicken was perfect. I had the cold leftovers for breakfast this morning! The cornbread muffin was too small just because it was soooo good. All the staff was kind! Made the experience even better. If I go to NOLA again this is another must go.
I was greeted promptly by the host and informed that I could sit at the bar. Once seated, the bartender greeted me and I asked about the happy hour schedule. He said it was currently happy hour (around 4:15 PM), which started at 3:00 PM. When I asked for a happy hour menu, the bartender didn’t have one and politely asked the manager on duty (a woman with dreads) for assistance. Unfortunately, the manager refused to provide a happy hour menu and offered no help. It was disappointing to see a manager unwilling to support her staff or assist a guest with a simple request. The bartender handled the situation professionally despite the lack of support. I ended up only having water, tipped the bartender for his courtesy, and decided to leave due to the poor management response. This experience reflected very poor customer service from management, which overshadowed the bartender’s professionalism.

Cesar salad with fried chicken on top is divine. It has cornbread croutons!!
Good as ever! Best fried chicken I've ever had! Red beans and rice were also delicious! Great, friendly server. New space is lovely, but I do miss the original location.
Best cabbage I've ever eaten, fried chicken was outstanding and weirdly enough, delicious ice tea. Service was excellent and restaurant itself very cool. That's a go to every time in NOLA.
We reserved a few days ahead of time, and we were really excited to eat at Willie Mae's after finding out the history of it. When we arrived, we were a little early, so we had to wait, which was totally fine. But then when we did get sat, our server came to the table, never introduced herself, or said much of anything when she handed us our menus. She poured our waters at the table reaching over me and spilling it on me, even though there was an inset area between our table and the next she could have done that over. She never offered anything else to drink. When she asked if we were ready to order, one of us was still looking at the menu, and she seemed annoyed that we weren't ready when she was. We got our food, and the chicken was pretty good, although the wing on every plate barely had any meat on it. The cornbread was good, and the other sides were decent. It was so loud in there that we couldn't have much of a conversation. The whole place was nothing like we expected. Nothing like the old Willie Mae's, and I'm not sure Willie herself would like all the changes. It's polar opposite of old school family dining, and the vibe was pretty uncomfortable. After all the excitement leading up to that dinner, we left disappointed, and won't be returning.
Fried Chicken was perfectly cooked! Well made cocktails. We would definitely dine here again. Only concern was that the floor was very slippery which was concerning when walking through the restaurant.
