SO I GAD TO CHECK OUT THIS RESTAURANT CALLED PONCHATOULAS IN RUSTON LOUISIANA. I REMEMBER A TRUCK DRIVER RECOMMENDED THIS PLACE AS A GREAT EAT OUT YEARS AGO. THE FOOD WAS GREAT AND THE SERVICE WAS DECENT. I WAS THERE FOR A GOOD HOUR AND A HALF WITH A HELPING OF STUFFED CATFISH AND SEAFOOD GUMBO. CAN'T GET SOME GOOD LOD SOUTHERN CAJUN COOKING ANYWHERE BUT IN LOUISIANA! I WILL DEFINITELY RETURN AGAIN IF I CAN SOON!

I waited outside for my date to arrive. Well, she didn't show. So, I'll just go in and eat. Stood by the sign that said wait to be seated. No one ever came to seat me. After waiting a reasonable amount of time, I LEFT! I WON'T BE BACK!

Its hard not to give Ponchatoulas a 5 star, but since I've only ever had one thing from there, the Red Beans and Rice, I think its unfair to give all 5 stars from my experiences. Ponchatoulas has an amazing atmosphere in the beautiful downtown Ruston. I love the restaurant from the location alone, but that doesn't mean the food is disappointing. I absolutely love their Red Beans and Rice, and everyone else I've been with has praised their meals, from fried catfish to chicken. They have very good home style meals and a great bar.

Hands down the best place to eat in the Ruston area. 3 generations of my family enjoy this place, and it’s an absolute staple of the area.
If you’re visiting and want to try Louisiana food- this is the place.
The stuffed catfish and crawfish Shirley are two favorites among many others!
