I don't really not recommend, but I had no middle choice. However, we had a mixed experience. The combo appetizer was definitely burned. We didn't discuss it with the waitress, but when my wife's hamburger steak came out burned we sent it back. Then the replacement was partially burned. We advised the waitress who was most gracious and made a price adjustment. However, my wife still didn't get to enjoy her meal. We live more than 60 miles away and are not likely to make a special trip back to Ruston to dine at Pontchatoula's. Too bad, as we had high hopes.

Great southern atmosphere. Amazing food, and etouffe. I always judge a place by how good their ranch dressing is, if it’s drinkable then the food is going to be amazing . And it most definitely was. The only downside was the automatic tip calculated in for 6 guests but one didn’t eat. We will definitely be back whenever we go back to Ruston. Crawfish 🦞 etouffe

Service was fantastic, the gumbo was a salve to a hungry soul, and the place is enjoyable and very local centric. A great stop on the way home to Texas, for a leg stretch and tummy filler.
The gumbo is great. The fried green tomatoes were tasty, with a hint of spice in the breading and remoulade. I highly recommend Ponchatoulas.

It was a bit of a wait, but benches were available out front. Seating was generous and the food was typical fried cajun offerings. Family night was in full effect. Kid friendly and accommodations for large groups. There are no reservations offered or required.

At the entrance, we were immediately greeted with a smile! ? We had the best waitress ever. The food was great. Served fresh and really hot!! The atmosphere was busy but smooth and welcoming. Great place to eat with family and friends!!!
Parking: We arrived just before the "After the Football Game" crowd got there, so we didn't have a problem finding a parking space. There was plenty of parking available.

I had them last night and man they did not disappoint. Our server was friendly and the food was hot and ready to serve. I got the boudin egg rolls for the appetizer and they were so good with their spicy sauce! For my entree, I got the stuffed catfish, which was even better! 10/10 recommend!

The food was okay. My son enjoyed the fried fish, not so much for the chicken tenders. I had the fried fish, not much on seasoning, but the French fries were really good. I initially had jambalaya, but it was horrible. The waitress exchanged it for French fries. The service was fine.
Both of my visits were very good! Great food and terrific service in an unhurried and very laid back atmosphere. Both visits were after the lunch rush. Handmade onion rings are hard to find, and these were fabulous! Their ice tea was perfect. I will definitely be back and encouraged friends to go!
