Good food. The Mac and cheese balls are the best I have had. So crisp and cheesy!

I really loved that they always made sure we had refills for our drinks and the sweet potato waffle fries was delicious, Best in town in my opinion.

Under new ownership from August 2024 so don't look at the old reviews! Sundown Tavern is a Ruston staple that continuously gets better. They have live music, friendly service, great sandwiches and drinks!

Edit 3/08/2025: We hit 104 decibels at 5:58 PM. Nobody has ever asked for 104 decibels before 6 pm.

Sundown tavern is the glue that holds downtown Ruston together. The turkey melt is a classic, the beers are cold, and the atmosphere outside is unbeatable.
The biggest weakness has always been the service and today was especially horrible. We were served by an older woman who was more than confused. She took ages to take our oder because of her terrible menu knowledge, she blatantly blamed her issues on the kitchen staff, and she ran our checks one at a time to, “make sure she doesn’t get them wrong”. She did. She missed 2 out of 4. I love a 45 minute Sunday lunch, but I absolutely despise an hour and a half ordeal being run by a 50 year old with the mental capacity of a seesaw.
