I want to preface this by saying that the food that I actually did get the chance to try was delicious - it was a really good burger and the jalapeño cheese balls were a good appetizer. The patio’s ambiance was wonderful. They offered chalk for children to use and had good music playing and a great vibe for adults. The whole bar and patio had a great vibe honestly. However, the service was very poor. My family was given a bad attitude over us voicing a minor inconvenience which ended up souring our experience here. I wanted to like this place and I wanted to give them some grace but the service really turned me off. I hope that their staff gets better training because this place has potential to thrive.

9/24: Hubs had chicken strips and a few drinks with friends on a Thurs pm... good times, but a bit pricey ($50 for just him).
7/23: No frills bar food type menu. The club sandwich and sweet potato fries were good. Sat on the patio with friends bc nice weather. Service was very slow to place our order, get our food, and drink refills. Thankfully, we were there to visit each other. Went for lunch on a Saturday. Moderately busy on the patio but not many inside.
Kid-friendliness: During the daytime, they're kid friendly and a bar for adults in the evenings.

My wife and I heard sundown had reopened. We tried it tonight. We ordered cheese sticks. Tasted like reheated. Cheese wasn’t warm. I ordered the MJ Burger. My burger was dry and over cooked. My wife ordered the turkey melt. She was not impressed. I know it’s still new but it needs more flavor!

As a Ruston local, I am so happy with how amazing Sundown Tavern is after reopening with NEW owners! While now boasting spotless floors and grime-free walls, Sundown has not lost any of its classic atmosphere we all love. The food was so delicious and served by the friendliness and most attentive staff. The turkey melt was absolutely AMAZING, and the fried green beans were as delicious as I remember. If you are looking for a cool spot in Ruston to hang out and catch up with friends at the bar, or even just a place to unwind after work with the family out on the patio, this is the place to go. Beyond happy to have a classic Ruston spot back and better than it ever has been before!
