We recently dined at **Middendorf's Restaurant** in Slidel la, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. They graciously accommodated our large family without hesitation, which immediately set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. A special thank you to Phillip, our waiter, who was attentive, friendly, and incredibly efficient throughout the evening, making sure everyone at our table was well taken care of. We’re also very grateful to Winn for working with our family ahead of time to help set up the event for 24 people—everything was organized seamlessly, which made the entire gathering stress-free and enjoyable.
Despite our large group, the food arrived quickly, piping hot, and—most impressively—all at the same time. That level of coordination doesn’t go unnoticed.
The standout for me was the Italian oysters. They were absolutely phenomenal. Each oyster was tender and briny, with that fresh-from-the-Gulf sweetness that seafood lovers crave. The Italian-style preparation elevated them beautifully—bathed in a rich, buttery sauce infused with garlic and herbs, likely oregano and parsley, that added warmth and depth without overpowering the oyster’s natural flavor.
What truly set them apart was the mozzarella cheese melted over the top. It was perfectly melted—creamy, smooth, and lightly golden in spots—adding a luscious, stretchy texture that complemented the silky oyster beneath. The mild richness of the mozzarella balanced the briny seafood and garlicky butter, creating a layered bite that was savory, comforting, and indulgent without feeling heavy. Every forkful had that irresistible blend of tender oyster, bubbling cheese, and aromatic herbs. Served hot, the aroma alone was mouthwatering—savory, garlicky, and unmistakably satisfying.
Between the outstanding service, seamless handling of our large party, and memorable dishes like the Italian oysters, Middendorf’s delivered a wonderful dining experience. We’ll definitely be back.

The wait staff and the atmosphere for the restaurant were quite delightful. The food on the other hand was horrendous. Seemed like it was reheated. Boiled shrimp taste with slightly off, but worst of all my girlfriend and I both had a little stomach problems when we left. I do not recommend

Love the atmosphere. The food was Meh 😑. Stuffed mushrooms and Boudin Balls were great. Stuffed broiled flounder, over cooked. And struck out on the cheeseburger too. Wait staff were real friendly and helpful. Except... the dining room was nearly empty and they filled the tables up next to each other with the rest of the dining room empty.

Good, large servings of thin-fried catfish and fries cooked to perfection. However, both could have used a little more seasoning. When I asked, server provided horseradish so I could kick the cocktail sauce up a notch. This relatively new site is large with indoor & oudoor dining and plenty of parking. I recommend this restaurant for groups of all sizes!

We ordered an appetizer, their special thin fried catfish and a kids plate. After waiting almost an hour, all of the tables around us who arrived after we did had all of the same items we ordered at their table. Our waitress was no where to be found. I hope her other two tables behind us who were still waiting to order figured it out sooner than we did! We literally only had bread and water at our table, so we left! Did inform the waitress at the bar (who my daughter swears was our waitress) and the hostesses that we were leaving. Cannot recommend. Terrible service.
