“We recently had our daughter in law’s baby shower at Palmettos and what a lovely day it was! Palmettos’ staff- especially Brittany and Rachel -made planning and hosting this event so easy. We had guests from across the country and everyone raved about the food, the kindness of the staff, and the beauty of the venue itself. The food was outstanding and everyone was remarking on their favorite dish and how tasty it was. As this was a party of 27, we had a beautiful room which opened onto the deck and it was expertly set for our party. We were greeted with a sign for our group outside and were surrounded by flowers while entering. I can’t give a higher recommendation as everything and everyone made our day perfect.”

He finished and was ready to get up. My husband took him over to the front and he played with the projector light on the floor, while a waiter would mess with him by poking around the corner, then I finished and we packed up and were getting ready to leave, Then the waitress brought him a light up hat to play with!! Very happy with how the staff treated my son! We loved the food and it was amazing hibachi! Will be back!”

I felt my life slipping through my fingers, the cold dark was coming for me. As I lost all hope a bright light appeared from behind the counter, the employee Ayden enveloped in a golden aura leaped over the counter. My hero had arrived. She performed the heimlich maneuver and saved my life. I am forever in her debt. In her honor I will be naming my first born daughter after her, I will tell my children this story for decades to come. Thank you Ayden!”

“We stopped at Southside Café after a high school football scrimmage, for a quick supper. We had the brisket burgers. The ingredients and preparation were top notch. The fries were nice and crispy. Really an excellent experience all around, including the excellent service at 8:30 PM on a Thursday night. Too bad I live 80 minutes away, but now I know and will make a point to visit when I'm in the Slidell area again. 10/10 would recommend.”

I picked up various spices, salt dis, bread, sour sop, soaps, etc. The aromas from the back peaked my curiosity, so I ordered curried goat and oxtails to go. OMG! I tasted both when I got in my vehicle, but immediately decided that I wanted to get completely comfortable to enjoy these dishes. If you’re searching for authentic Jamaican cuisine, spices, teas, etc, do yourself a favor and visit this one-stop location. You won’t be disappointed.”

Which includes rice (not an over whelming amount) steak, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, red bell pepper, yellow bell pepper, green bell pepper, and perfect amount of cilantro. Oh whatever their special ingredient is to make this taste so amazing!!”

“Heidelberg’s is such a great bar to work at. Friendly regular guests that have been coming here for years, great bands and DJ on the weekends. Our Karaoke on Wednesday is a blast with great singers. I’ve been a patron for about 25 years and after 17 years away from Slidell I work here. We also get a lot of travelers that are now regulars when in town. Come stop in and see us anytime.”

The food was so delicious and plentiful. Lemon chicken could have served 4 people. Pork fried rice the best I've had. All served in the stainless steel covered servers that keep the food so much hotter than platters. The poor little waitress was working alone as her co-worker was I'll. She kept up with non-stop phone calls, waiting on tables and checking back with us several times. Restaurant also appeared very clean.”

The hostess was dressed nice and greeted us upon entry without wait. The waitress was serving 3 tables during our time and did a great job checking on everyone and getting food and drinks out to us. The food arrived hot and delicious. My kids enjoyed their meals, drinks and service as well. Overall just a great experience and we will be regulars for family dining thanks to that experience.”

Parking: This is a Main Street in Olde Town where all the best bars and restaurants are located. Parking is diagonal but if you go a bit earlier than peak hours, there’s always parking available.”

“Let me start by saying regardless iof my experience today, I still love TCBY! But......Just went today for “Waffle Cone Wednesday” with my bestie around 3:40. We mentioned it to the manager and she stated oh no we don’t have that anymore. We haven’t had Waffle Cone Wednesday in quite awhile. Oh, ok!! I bought my $7 cone, ate it and enjoyed it. My friend and I sat outside for a while. The manger left and a mom and her 4 daughters went in and all walked out with their over stuffed cones! I casually said to the mom, gosh that must have cost a fortunate since it’s no longer waffle cone Wednesday. She said why no it is waffle cone Wednesday, it’s the only reason I can afford it. Ha!!! Oh really? I walked in asked the two young girls and of course they said it was waffle cone Wednesday!! All I can say is WOW!!! #SoRude”

“This particular location had good food overall and great service. We were traveling from Louisiana to Georgia....I believe we were still in Louisiana when we stopped. It was our first time eating at this place, it's similar to a Texas Roadhouse. We tried the Shrimp Alfredo, Grill salmon >Blackened, and Steak& grilled shrimp. We loved the honey butter croissants, although I've never seen a restaurant charge extra for bread served before the food arrives...weird! But prices for the meals are pretty reasonable for food and portion size so we didn't complain. Now to the details...the Shrimp Alfredo was the best meal at our table. The only setback was the garlic bread was hard as a rock. But we had our fill of bread with the croissants so we didn't complain. But the dish was tasty and fresh and enough portion sized to share or have your fill and take the rest home. Now on to the Salmon....I got Blackened but I should have tried the grilled or bourbon. It came with rice and two other sides. I got a sweet potato and a veggie. The salmon was seasoned but little flavor, I guess that's to be expected. The rice had hard pieces throughout, and I just had to return it. They quickly brought out a fresh bed of fluffy soft rice. Overall, it was good, I finished my meal. If I returned, I would order something else. The steak was seasoned and cooked well, plus the grilled shrimp was a good match to create a surf and turf. Got a loaded baked potato and veggie with it. I added pictures of the menu below because 1) I'm creating the review after the fact,lol. 2) It's important that food on the menu looks like how you receive it. These dishes didn't differ in looks for this location. So what you see is what you get. The pics represent what we received...minus the carrots for a loaded baked potato, swap the battered shrimp for grilled shrimp, add a sweet for the regular bake potato with the salmon and those were our meals ?. We received the best service from our waitress. She was kind, attentive, and quick. We never asked for a single refill because she was on it throughout our sit. She constantly checked on us after the food arrived. She even brought us to-go drinks with our check. Strawberry lemonade is the best! Her attentiveness made up for the minor setbacks from the food...often times it's not what you get, but how you are treated. I can't speak for all locations, but this was a good first-time experience for my family and I.”
