If you're looking for authentic down home eating with the locals this is a must stop. Highly recommend using maps or another app to get you hear because I didn't notice signature outside
Service by Ali was fantastic! She had to fill in waiting tables, as she's normally a Hostess. But she was amazing and nailed it! My chicken fried ribeye steak was perfectly tender, crisp crust, and seasoned perfectly! The zydeco shrimp were perfect, as was my date's Eggplant Crab Dinner was delicious. Portions are very generous! My old fashioned was beautiful! Great experience, definitely coming back!
Our waitress was so nice and knowlageable about the menu items. It was my mom's birthday and they brought her out a huge piece of bread pudding. Cafe' Josephine is my absolute favorite resturant to eat at! Don't even get me started on the grilled oysters!!! The bomb.........
Great meal as usual. Steaks so tender and flavorful!! Just missing the sautéed crab claws for appetizer, but the crab meat egg rolls were delicious.
Food was excellent however it took 2 hours for us to get our food. I think the waiter forgot to put our order in and did not even check on us throughout the night. This was the worst service we have received at Cafe Josephine's ever.
Everything about this place was perfect, from our waitress which was a doll to the food which was delicious!! We booked out next trip already!!
The waiter seemed to be in a hurry to take our order for drinks and appetizers. He was slow to check back for refills, in fact I had to fish him down after his third pass of not even acknowledging us. Drinks came out to the wrong table and had to be corrected. Appetizers came out to the wrong table and had to be corrected. The charbroiled oysters were not cooked - they were lukewarm, half raw, and lacked the signature garlic butter flavor with unmelted cheese. We were very disappointed with the oysters. The stuffed mushrooms were not in a cream sauce but a flour gravy and were very gloppy. The tuna tacos were so wet the flour tortillas were doughy. If this had been my only visit - it would be my last. To add to the disaster of a night out, the noise level was extremely loud ruining the ambiance of a nice dining experience.
The Oysters and stuffed mushrooms were fabulous. Shrimp and crab bisque really good. Shrimp grits excellent. We had to wait on our entrees a little longer than I would have liked so good but not excellent service. The chef was really excellent on checking on us.
The seafood gumbo had a great flavor, as did the stuffed shrimp and the eggplant with pasta dish. Great food in a quaint setting.
Great oysters, drinks and steaks. They gave us crumbs as biscuits. It was all broken up and we was a total of maybe 10 or 12. We would've needed a spoon to taste it but we didn't care to even touch it. The majority group took their food home because they didn't like it

Made a reservation for two. Arrived 30 min early and was seated right away. Great food. Great service! Highly recommend!
This cafe is a diamond in the small city of Sunset!!! We had a quiet lunch with friends and the waitress was amazing... giving us lots of options to choose from... we both had a frozen lemon drop... And I had seen something on the grill when I came in and decided to ask about it... Thank God I did... It was Cajun sushi... Which basically is a rolled out piece of ribeye filled with cream cheese and jalapeños, then rolled up like a sushi and wrapped in bacon... It was served with a sweet but peppery sauce with shallots on the side... Absolutely amazing. My friend had the chicken fried ribeye and we both had the stuffed baked potato. To top all of this off, we shared a white chocolate blueberry cheesecake slice I cannot tell you how amazing the food was and the surrounding area is very quaint and filled with little antique shops for you to poke your head into either before or after you eat.
First time here and it was great! Went to celebrate our anniversary and we really enjoyed it!
Great food and service. Our server, Macie, was amazing! She is clearly experienced and focused on a great experience for customers. Ask for Macie as your server on your next trip to Cafe Josephine!
Food was far from what we expected. Service was poor.
