“We stopped by for our last evening in New Orleans. They had a long list of mocktails and n/a beers, which were perfect for our family. The food tasted different from other Thai food we have had - some more like Indian food and some more like Chinese food. We got two appetizers (okra & tofu satay) and two entrees (a tofu noodle soup and a jackfruit curry). We also got a small slice of the chai cheesecake - which I didn't know at the time cost $22! There are awards on the wall that show that the chef won 2 New Orleans vegan cooking contests. Service was very nice and attentive. 20% tip is included and there are signs saying that this is to help them pay a living wage. Two appetizers, 2 entrees, one Thai iced tea, one n/a beer, 3 mocktails, and one small slice of cheesecake came to $175 including the tip. You can decide if that's what you're looking for! I'd say our average meal in New Orleans, buying one of just about every vegan option and sharing it at many different restaurants, cost about $80, so this is much more expensive. Bonus though, they give you pandan water, which we discovered is delicious! Updated from previous review on 2025-04-11“

“This is a really good locally owned Thai restaurant just a few blocks outside the French Quarter. I got the Crab Rangoon and the gyoza as appetizers, and they were amazing! For dessert, I loved the Umi cheesecake so much I got a second slice. I also found the chandeliers and the detailed mural made the space feel classy but still casual. The service was also very good. I will definitely be back.
Wheelchair accessibility: The front door is level with the street. There are no stairs either inside or outside.“

“First-time customer and I ordered the Pad Ga Pow over Jasmine Rice, the Fried Fish and Shrimp with fries plate and 2 orders of the Fried Rice Thai Style. Gerald was very welcoming and explained what each dish included. Will have to try the gumbo at my next visit.“

“Made a trip here for the first time today. The food was delicious and the portions enormous. We got the level 3 to start, and didn’t find it too spicy; but my husband and I love chilis and the endorphin rush that comes with them. Next time we will try 4 or 5. I appreciate the policy for no exchanges or refunds for food that is too spicy. At other Thai restaurants we ask for food to be Thai hot, and we usually get blown off. We’ll be back!!“

“I enjoyed my visit to Chill Out Cafe! I had a bowl of their Tom Kha and I enjoyed it. I had never seen tomatoes or carrots in this dish from any other Thai restaurant before, but I enjoyed the flavors of this addition. The calamari was deliciously crunchy. Our whole table ordered bubble tea but unfortunately they did not have enough boba left, as it was the end of the day. The thai tea and coffee was delicious regardless. I would come here again, and I hope to try their breakfast soon!“

“Denied access to a legally allowed service dog without any interest in making accommodation. The dog tucked immediately under the table where she is supposed to be and the server (maybe owner) came over immediately asking for paperwork, which isn't required in the United States. Any paperwork provided is typically bought off the internet. Don't waste your time or money here. Sharing their intolerance on every platform. Also just found out that the person who told us we couldn't eat there laughed and tried to joke with the rest of our party and offer free drinks after the fact like that was going to fix splitting our dinner party.“

“Coming from Seattle, where there is a lot of Asian food especially Thai food. It’s hard to find a very good Thai restaurant in the south. This place is good still different from what I’m used to, the noodles were still not as flat as I usually eat when I’m in Seattle these noodles are on the chewy side. The sauce reminded me more of a chow fun. The chicken pieces were OK. He was nothing special, but overall friendly service large menu with lots of vegetarian options.“

“We stopped in 2 years ago with 3 teenage girls, 2 of whom are extremely picky. They still talk about how good the was here, and ask when we are going back to New Orleans so they can get more. It was delicious.“

“Queen Curry to the rescue. I have been craving Pad Thai for a WHILE. I got the lunch special portion with grilled pork, and they allowed me to swap out the salad for an additional spring roll (props to the sweetest owner for doing that!). Go check this place out!“

I honestly can’t believe that I haven’t reviewed this place yet. I’ve been going here for a few years now. Being a vegan I don’t have many options on the Westbank. My go to order here is the tofu fried rice (no-egg) on the lunch menu and I love their roti with peanut sauce as well. They also make me a Thai tea with coconut cream instead of milk.
Vegetarian options: Vegan options“
