We were planning to visit the plantations on River Road and needed lunch. We were very impressed by everything we had; the boudin balls appetizers were tasty and hot, the blackened redfish and the pecan catfish were great, and the ‘side’ salads were delicious and plentiful. Too bad we were too full for dessert! DJ’s is a bit off River Rd but well worth seeking out.

Excuse of family funeral and “we do our best” is understandable but not really justified for such a long waiting time (more than one hour). We wanted to leave for another place but it was the only restaurant open in the vicinity! Need to mention that the food was very good!

Highly recommend eating here instead of going back into the poor quality tourist trap called French Quarter. Hubby ordered the Hamburger Steak with green beans and mashed potatoes and was pleasantly met with actual home cooked food with adequate portion sizes and great flavor. I had the California Turkey Club and it was generous and fresh including the bread and the son had the Papas Pig on a brioche bun and again was pleased with the freshness, flavor, and option size. We highly recommend stopping by this hidden gem and supporting the local businesses.

After being starved and overcharged for our entire trip in and around the French Quarter; this place was a breath of fresh air. Exactly what I needed. Great food in heaping portions. I’m considering the hour drive back here for the remainder of our trip. Ray our waiter did a fine job as well.
