Went for a work dinner. Steak was a bit tough, but clam chowder was excellent. Very attentive service.

I visited this town for Family Weekend and decided to try this restaurant, but I was disappointed with my experience. I was charged for something I didn’t order, and although the waiter immediately apologized and said it was his boss’s mistake, the manager never came by to apologize or acknowledge it. I also noticed that my table was served much slower than others — the guests at the table next to me, who arrived about 20 minutes later, received their appetizers before I did. The main dish tasted good, but my filet mignon was served cold and seemed like it had been sitting out for a while after being cooked. I understand the restaurant was busy, but it left me wondering if all these things were simply mistakes or intentional. I didn’t raise the issue at the restaurant because I didn’t want to ruin the mood — I hadn’t spent time with my son in a while and didn’t want to make him feel bad — but I was not happy at all with my experience.

An excellent choice for fine dining in Amherst center, close enough to UMass Amherst and right across the street from Amherst college. I recommend the butternut squash burrata dip and the sea scallops. They had an excellent selection of wines, but I ended up going for a mocktail with ginger beer and peach puree. A more expensive option, but worth every dollar!

Victoria is a national treasure who should be rewarded with a significant share of the restaurant for single-handedly carrying the bar without missing a beat on our conversation.

(editing my post) It’s a nice location in a charming inn. We did not have a great experience the first time there, but our 2nd visit was excellent. Highly recommended. Every place can have a bad day.

Spent $45 for the prix fixe during restaurant week and chose to have zucchini fritters, stinging nettle gnocchi, and basque cheesecake. Alongside with their Reed Farms Chicken and a cocktail. Sad to say the dessert and drink were the best part.

Zucchini Fritters sat in measly bed of arugula which helped to complement the absence of flavor in the fritters. Which just felt like eating all fries and no french.

Stinging Nettle Gnocchi was just good, but the gnocchi was so overcooked (mushy and gummy).

Reed Farms Chicken had great gravy, but carrots only resembled them in looks with no regards to that earthy taste we were looking for. And everything else was (barely) palatable as the strongest flavor of the night (before the cocktail) the glacé was far too salty.

Basque cheesecake was good with the highlight of it being the strawberry compote that surrounded the dessert like the most of a castle.

Great service though from our waiter who was able to put a candle on the dessert for our special occasion. Hopefully it was just an off night for them, we may revisit much later in the future.

We had the pork schnitzel( it was horrible) and the steak frites (it was pretty good). The poutin was very, very greasy, I didn't enjoy it, just didn't like it at all. And the cocktail was good.

They have a special holiday tea which we have attended in past years. Their tea service has 2 seatings - a lot of people all being served the same thing at the same time. It includes five sandwiches - ham, roast beef, salmon, cucumber and egg salad. I asked that my daughter be given extras of the cucumber and egg in place of the meat and fish. And was told they have changed their policies - they insist on serving meat to vegetarians. That's right - they can't possibly figure out how to place a different mass produced sandwich onto a plate. "Due to the decadent nature of the event." was what I was told. dec·a·dent /ˈdekəd(ə)nt/ adjective characterized by or reflecting a state of moral or cultural decline. Well at least they know. Unless they are getting these 3-tiered trays pre-wrapped off of food trucks, it should not have been a problem. For $65 per person, I don't think it was such an unreasonable request.

Hostess very pleasant and accommodating! Abram, our server, was very attentive! The menu was fantastic! Menu choices varied across many varied tastes. This is rare! Wish that I could do this in my own restaurants. This takes confidence. This restaurant excelled.
