I loved Earthfoods as a student! I am eating brown rice with tahini sauce right now. I ate that with salad about 3 times a week. So delicious.

The employees are awesome and they care more about feeding people than making money.

Delicious vegetarian and vegan food! I can be a picky eater, but this place is always having me try new foods. Fun atmosphere where you can get work done, if you want. Staff is amazing, too ?.

I ate lunch every day at the Earthfoods Cafe on Campus from 1979 to 1983! I was a Human Nutrition major and found lunch at the cafe gave me the greatest fuel for afternoon classes and labs, as well as a vigorous workout at 4pm, either a run, a bicycle ride or laps in the pool in the winter. I was reminiscing at how well I felt eating the vegan fare and thought I would see if the cafe was still in existance. So pleased to see it it! I was at UMass from 1979-1983. Carry on! Jane

Nothing fancy here, but simplicity is a virtue. They make one entree and one dessert per day, and they also serve yesterday's offerings at a discount. Their menu varies day to day. Examples from this past week include tofu peanut broccoli stir fry, chili, quesadillas, and roasted root vegetables. Among the desserts were lemon cake, chocolate cake, and cinnamon streusel. Everything is vegetarian, and they always have vegan options on offer. I ate here twice this week and really enjoyed both meals. The chili was hearty and delicious, and the roasted root vegetables were colorful and tasty, as well. They give generous portions, and the prices are really affordable. 7 dollars for a heaping portion or 5 dollars for a standard one... and they give discounts for day-old stuff. Really great to see such a fun, funky spot that serves up great veggie food. And it's especially cool that it's all student run. This is a UMass institution - definitely stop in if you're nearby.

Student businesses / Co-ops are an amazing and enriching opportunity. Earthfoods is one of my favorite at UMass located in the Student Union right next to People's Market. They serve affordable fresh hot lunches to everyone. Their specialty are focused in vegetarian and vegan dishes. All of the employees are undergrad students and you can tell they are passionate about their business as a co-manager. I agree with the other reviewer that as this is student run with limited guidance from the University the presentation and preparation can be at times a little sloppy. They are able to accept the YCMP swipes, which is great for students who get sucked into buying the (overpriced) campus meal plan. Might as well use them up right? Each week they post the "menu" on one of their social media outlets and they definitely have some cult favorites that seem to run out before their 3PM close time. Some of my favorites are their Mac & Squash, Lasagna, Lavender cupcakes, of course classic Rice, Beans and Kale. I've introduced several of my friends to this place and most of them have enjoyed it, except for one who just does not like vegetarian dishes in general. This is definitely one of the aspects of undergrad that I'll miss the most.

This review is a strange one since I have not been a student at UMass for 8 years. But, I wanted to review this place and say it is/was a great dining option at UMass that is run by students. I would socialize around this place across my undergraduate years and I met some great friends there. Food was frankly quite good and often rich (I always loved their cookies). This surprised me when I was younger since the food was vegetarian or vegan. The business helped introduce me to some good vegetarian and vegan food options. Was it gourmet level? No. But, it was made with passion. I loved, loved, loved this place when I was a student and I hope other students love it too.
