Everything about this restaurant is 5 stars! We tried 3 types of oysters and all were fresh. Our server described each region the oysters came from and it was fun to compare the different types side by side. I had the blue fin Crudo special, and the mushroom soup. To die for!!! My husband enjoyed the seafood stew- It was unlike any we've had before! Not like a boullabaise, it was a thick sauce that complimented the seafood. Our friends enjoyed the halibut entree and the fish was beautifully done. Slight crisp on the outside and soft and flakey through the middle. The mixed drinks were excellent. We highly recommend the maple Manhattan and the violet lemon drop. Don't miss out on the sticky toffee pudding dessert! Our server Jese was top notch. He was very personable and so attentive. Roseanne the owner stopped by our table as well to check in. She is a gracious host and invited us to experience the private event space to plan for an upcoming 60th birthday! This is a great spot to meet friends or have a romantic dinner for two. We will be back often!

I recently had the pleasure of DJing an event at Elm Square Oyster, specifically in their newly opened function room, The Pearl Room. The experience was exceptional from start to finish.
First, the location is prime—right in the heart of a vibrant area, making it easy for guests to get to. The load-in and load-out process was a breeze, all on the same floor, which made setup incredibly efficient.
The Pearl Room itself is beautifully designed, offering the perfect ambiance for any event. I met the owner, Rosanne, who was warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about her establishment. It’s easy to see the level of care and attention to detail that goes into everything here.
Although I didn’t get to taste the food firsthand, it looked absolutely amazing. The guests were raving about it all night, and the presentation was top-notch. The staff was equally impressive—attentive, friendly, and on point throughout the entire event.
Whether you’re planning an event or just looking for a great dining experience, Elm Square Oyster and The Pearl Room are top-tier. Highly recommended!

Slowest service! We waited 2 hrs for our food. Unacceptable. The food was ok. Definitely had better. Definitely not going back.
The response of the owner says it all. Not taking responsibility for short staffed kitchen (according to the waitress) and slow service. Putting the blame on the customers is insane to me.

We tried the 5 course chefs tasting and it was amazing. It was such a great experience. The chef came out and explained each tasting in detail and it was the best food we have had, maybe ever. The food was amazingly good. We can't say enough about Michael Sherman the Chef. The service and atmosphere were great as well. Highly recommend the 5 course Chefs tasting.

Used to go all the time but last two times have not been great and unfortunately think tonight was our last. It’s just not good enough for the crazy price. Drinks are so sweet and sugary, lobster roll smelled concerningly fishy, carrots were uncooked, pasta was bland, portions are small. Oysters were okay, but expected a little better for 3.50 a piece. Bread is just two pieces of a brioche roll with a teeny-tiny dish of butter. It’s fine, but definitely not worth the average $200 spend. Ambiance is great, and this used to be my favorite spot. I hope they can find their way again.

Unusual menu for a Boston area "oyster house" with very good food. Nice bar area.

It’s a bit noisy but the chatter is friendly and excited. We had the King Salmon Wellington which was absolutely delicious. They provide a wonderful choice of oysters and the clam chowder is very good. Service was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Elm Square Oyster.

Went here last night for the first time ever. My entree was wrong and they did not do anything to rush fixing it (it was pasta that wasn't supposed to have meat in it). There was no apology while I sat with no food for 20 minutes. Then when the bill came, I asked if I would be compensated for the error/wait and I was met with dumbfounded shock by the bartender/server to which I replied "you are supposed to make things right with the customer" and then I was told "don't get mad about it!" WOW. I cannot ever say that I have ever experienced customer service as bad as that in any restaurant.....ever. The service overall was quite slow from the start but we kind of let that go, the food (appetizer, salad) was overall pretty good, drinks were creative, the atmosphere is nice but I won't ever go back based on that interaction as my business is clearly not appreciated.
Follow up note:
I received a personal message from the owner of the restaurant, saying that’s not how she runs her business and asked me to call her and give them another opportunity to provide better service . I always appreciate when a business makes an effort to make things right. I thought it was important to add this note to my review.
Great oysters, but unfortunately the chefs choice oyster happy hour never changes which Oyster! Atleast it’s tasty, on the smaller side however.
