The atmosphere and wait staff were great but the food was horrible. We had potato skins that came out in literally 3 minutes after ordering which were microwaved and the burger and steak frites were like charcoal.

Disappointing. Ordered a burger to be cooked medium/well. Burger was charred black on outside and blood red in the middle. It took a long time for server to come back to our table...and, at that point, I didn't really feel like eating. So, I asked server to have the kitchen correct my order and make it to go. I made an attempt to eat my to-go burger the next day and same thing...charred black on the outside skin, blood red throughout. My wife ordered the shrimp scampi. Another disappointment. 4 shrimp on olive oil covered pasta.Last time we're eating here

We arrived without reservations on a busy Friday night and a friendly, professional staff took good care of us. The swordfish and steak were exquisite — even the smallest roasted baby potatoes were memorable for their flavor. The atmosphere is loud and open…informal, as steakhouses go. We’d definitely return.

We have been to Smythe & Dove twice, but last nights experience was so sub par, it warranted a review. APPS: We got the mussels and the pretzel bites. The mussels were shoved tightly into a bowl that didn't allow for the even distribution of sauce. They were stacked way too high and should have been dancing with the juice. That said, they were enjoyable and tasty. rating: 4/5 for taste. 2/5 for presentation. The pretzel bits were just fine. They didn't blow me away. 2.5/5. DINNER: First of all, I expect any high(er) end steak house to know that burgers need to rest before being plated. This is cooking 101. Otherwise, the customer gets a soggy, sloppy hunk of meat that doesn't stay together, which is exactly what happened last night. I ended up eat just the patty as everything else had fallen apart. I think I could've gotten a better burger at Applesbees frankly. Taste was there, except the eating experience was a mess. The truffle fries were stuffed with some sort of wilted leafy green. WHY?! Do you think it looks good? It looked a mess to me, and most certainly added nothing to the flavor. Do less. 2 out of 5 on my meal. My husband ordered the strip with demi glaze and whipped potatoes. The demi glaze was wayyyyy too tomatoey. Yuck. The whipped potatoes were lumpy and lacked flavor. 2 out of 5 for me, particularly given the price. ALL IN ALL: I'd rather take my $200 elsewhere. I had so much hope for this place. The outside is awesome. The inside ambiance is a bit odd (loud music downstairs, no real cohesive dinning theme, weird art work), but something I could have ignored for good food. I could see us coming back for a drink and an app, but nothing more. Would rather spend a little extra and go to ruth's chris or capital grille. OR spend LESS money at grassfields. Sorry, this is a miss for me.

It’s just a no, don’t go. In spite of hearing horrible reviews for years, we finally decided it was time to give it a try. It’s the last time. Maybe if you never dine out and have zero expectations this place could fool you, but if you have any expectations, you will be disappointed. I don’t even know where I could throw in a compliment…it was horrible. The filet was on par with Applebees, the Demi glaze was so horrendous….I do feel bad for them as they are clearly not doing well, but until they need to make some SERIOUS changes. The menu is awful and the food couldn’t be worse. Nice space and I look forward to going when new owners take over. Waste all around.

Had an enjoyable night out tonight. GF took me for my Birthday dinner. Very large space, modern & well run. Got there before Sat night dinner run. Seated right away. Got drinks& ordered a salad. Strawberry salad, split it. It was very good. Candied walnuts! Frankie L was our server. He was great, sincerely could tell he wanted to do everything he could to make our meal the best. Good energy, lots of knowledge of the menu. Service of this level is currently rare. Our mains where the filled minon for me and steak frites for GF. She ordered them medium but they where clearly rare. Management took them back and fixed them. And more than made it right for us. Finished with a very nice carrot cake! Will Def be back for a visit.

This place is trash. The food was laughably bad. I can't understand why they would build this big beautiful place and roll out garbage for food. What's the point?

Smythe & Dove was Amazing! The food was delicious! The Strawberry Rhubarb Martini is dangerously delicious ?My husband and I will definitely be back!

Very nice place. Spacious, with plenty of room for larger parties of people. Service was very good, food was OK. The nachos appetizer was soggy and not hot enough. Main courses where all very generous portions and delicious. This place is not inexpensive, but well worth it.

Not even close as to what would be expected from a prime steakhouse. Should have known as the crowd was very sparse on a Saturday night. Steaks were tough and way under cooked for our request. Sides were very good. Waitstaff was friendly, but not top-notch attentive as would be expected. Sirloin was flavorless. At one point we were only ones in dining room. I would have been disappointed in my steak if it was at The 99. Well, tried that. Moving on.

$21 for a Manhattan WTF??? Finally broke down and dropped in for a drink. The place is inviting and the bartender was very pleasant. My wife got a house cocktail and I got a Woodford's Manhattan. The drinks were very good, then we got the check. Talk about sticker shock!! These weren't even Boston prices, they were NYC prices at a 5 star restaurant. The owners need to re-evaluate where they are. No wonder the place was less than half full on a Friday night.

I was disappointed in the food. My husband and I went for a 'date night'. He reserved the upstairs but it was closed so we were ushered to a high top in the bar area. There was loud music playing and approximately 3 tables full and we were seated right on top of another couple. I asked to move to the dining room where there was only one table with 3 diners. The ambience is like a hotel dining room (No decor, lighting is bright); nothing like the pictures I have seen of their upstairs dining. My husband and I both ordered the steak frites cooked to medium. My steak was cooked medium rare. My steak was full of nerves and gristle. I could not cut it with the steak knife. My husband's steak frites were served medium and 'hard to chew'. The steak is served atop truffle 'frites' which were very oily and soggy with brown sauce. I think putting the steak on top made it worse. I did not enjoy the meal. For $33 i expected a good cut of meat with crispy frites. We declined desert or extra drinks. I give 3 stars because our server was excellent. The waiter was so attentive and friendly. I will not go back unless they advertise a new chef.

I've been to this restaurant three times. I really wanted to like it but each visit was worse than the last. Nice atmosphere and decor. The bar area is comfortable, a nice place to hang out and the drinks are great! Ordered a shrimp cocktail. About a tablespoon of cocktail sauce on the side and the shrimp were over cooked, tough and clearly had been in the fridge for a day or two. Not good. VERY limited menu and the food is just not very good. I counted exactly 10 people in the restaurant on a beautiful Friday night in June at 8:00 pm. Left and went to Bueno Malo and it was packed! No tables available outside had a great dinner. Sorry to say Smyth & Dove but 3 strikes you're out. I fully expect this establishment to be closed by Labor Day

Great first impression; space is well designed and inviting. My wife and I were there early 5:30), and Steve was working the bar and the lounge. Steve is a great worker; pleasant, engaging, and knew his menu and provided recommendations. The food and drinks we ordered were well prepared and delicious. I just wish there were more options on the food side. The menu at the restaurant did not match the website, and one of the items missing is what somewhat drew us there. Prices are very fair. I would likely return. You may want to make reservations. As we were leaving, the place was filling up fast.
