Rolled in here for lunch on a Saturday with my family. Small space, super cute; with a bright, happy vibe. The menu is a mixture of Nepalese and Indian food and everything we had was delicious. Service was so chill and kind. Thank you for such a great meal!

Great chana masala! Happy to support a locally owned business

I highly recommend dining in at Makalu! We just had the best experience there for dinner. The vibe was amazing, we loved the ambiance, the owners clearly put a lot of love and labor into the aesthetic of the space and it’s beautiful! We also LOVED our meal. We split the Korma Paneer curry and it was 10/10. We got the garlic naan bread with it and that was delicious as well. We additionally got the vegetarian momo and highly recommend it! Lastly, we got the lava cake for dessert and that was an unexpected highlight. We loved it! The service was amazing, the space was relaxing, and the food was great. We will definitely be returning. I also highly recommend dining in vs. takeout - we’ve done both, and our dining-in experience is what shined the most compared to takeout.

We've ordered once and enjoyed it. The paneer tikka masala was good but nothing to write home about. The aloo gobi was quite good, and we also enjoyed the panipuri (though if you're not familiar with this appetizer, there's some assembly required so ask someone for information). Generally we're looking forward to ordering again and will probably try some other curries.

Their takeout containers are all plastic. No one wants piping hot curry in plastic that melts into your food. Use foil containers or something that won't leech toxins into the food.

Makalu has my favorite vegetarian momo of all time! Our favorites are their fried and/or chilly vegetarian momo, chatpat (as an appetizer), and paneer tikka masala.

This place has broken a long standing rule for me, if you have a neon word sign, I'm not gonna like the food. Well they have one and I loved the food. It was so good, I didn't get any pictures of it but everything was plated very nice and came out super fresh and hot.

You can tell they are still working some kinks out but this place is gonna be legendary for Arlington. I mean any place that has $5 beers in this area has my heart.

The chef came out and he was so pleasant and made us feel very welcomed. I think my only gripe was the chicken in the curry felt a little light but it was very yummy.

I can't wait to see how this place grows! Keep up the amazing work!

Had a great experience here with a group of friends. The ambiance is pleasant, and the food quality is solid. We tried several dishes—*thaali* and *thukpa* were the highlights, while *momo* was decent. *Chatpat* had great flavor and texture, and *panipuri* was a healthier take. *Chowmein* was slightly burnt, but likely a one-time issue.

Service was excellent—friendly, attentive staff with genuine smiles. I came all the way from Worcester; while I might not travel just for this spot again, I’d happily eat here if I’m in the area.

Off topic : The place gives a cozy café/snack vibe—adding coffee/refreshers drinks/grab-and-go kind could attract more foot traffic. Only downside: it was quite cold inside, especially near the vent.

Overall, highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Nepali/Indian flavors catered towards Western taste buds.

I absolutely loved this place. Honestly, I dont have a refined palate, but whatever vegetarian spicy dish they brought me we great. The two people running the place were as nice as could be. I absolutely loved the vibe, just a tiny thoughtful space.

Ill definitely be back and I think itd make a great cute date spot. They do sell beer and wine, liquor is coming I am told.
