Very flavorful vegan Asian food. Unfortunately, not very Celiac friendly, so was not fully able to enjoy the atmosphere. Good pricing overall - will definitely come back when I visit Boston again!

I was so happy to find a vegan Asian restaurant and it did not disappoint. The lunch special came with miso soup and a spring roll. The curry was very flavorful. I got the banana spring rolls for dessert and they were also very good. Parking was a little tricky, but not awful. Updated from previous review on 2025-10-02

Had a nice dinner at Zhu’s Kitchen — a fully vegan Asian spot in Arlington, MA 🍜✨ We’re trying to up our protein lately, so we started with edamame and agedashi tofu — both satisfying and a great start. For mains, I had the General Tso’s with soy cutlets, and hubby had the Sesame Tofu. We both asked for extra spicy 🔥... but honestly? It wasn’t spicy at all — more sweet than anything. I even wondered if they accidentally gave us the same sauce or swapped them because we requested spice. The flavors were still tasty, just definitely more tailored to a Western palate. That said, everything was well prepared and really satisfying — and it’s always a win to have another fully vegan spot around 🌱 And yes... the last pic is quite literally the doggie bag 🐶💼 #ZhusKitchen #VeganAsianFood #VeganArlingtonMA #PlantBasedEats #GeneralTsosTofu #SesameTofu #VeganMassachusetts #VeganRestaurants #AdopteeEats #VeganFoodie #HonestReview #TofuLove #VeganProteinPush
Tried this vegan restaurant for the 1st time while in town for work!
Genuinely awesome food. Reminds me of loving hut and one of my other fave vegan Asian spots in ATL.
I will definitely check this place out again when I'm back.

One of my favorite dinner spots. They have so many gluten free options. My favorite is the Pad Thai. I do wish they had outdoor seating in the summer.

Soup was good, two entrees were very bland and tasteless.
I was looking forward to enjoying vegan Chinese cuisine. I ordered the deep-fried king oyster mushrooms and the Mapo Tofu. The mushrooms were bland and actually hard. Dipping them in the sauce gave them some taste, but they actually remained more hard than crunchy. The Mapo Tofu, normally one of my favourite dishes, pretty much looked like slop on a plate, cubes of uncooked soft tofu lying in a gooey red sauce with big bits of undercooked carrots and celery. No sign of Sichuan peppercorns. At least it was sort of spicy, but that's all it tasted like. At least the homemade ginger ale was ok, but for 35$ for one person, I will never return.

Omg. Just finished my dinner. Excellent Food
Zhu is an underrated gem of the greater Boston area. I've enjoyed eating here for years and it has always been consistently great. Some people I know who I would otherwise think would never choose a vegan restaurant have really enjoyed the food here and keep coming back. Super flavorful and definitely above average.
If you like a sweet and spicy-but-not-that-spicy combo, I recommend the general tso's soy protein. You can't find vegan chick'n like this most anywhere else.
Even some of their more simple dishes stand out in flavor to me. The peanut sauce that comes with the soy protein salad is so good it doesn't even feel like I'm eating a salad.
I love their scallion pancake too though I always wish it was bigger.
Their deserts are also surprisingly good. Try the fried ice cream! You won't regret it. Their chocolate cake also has a unique kind of crumb that I really enjoy and don't see a lot with vegan cakes. I was very surprised by how good it was.
For me personally this is also my favorite place to come with friends because it's a very comfortable and spacious environment to chat in. If you like a place that isn't too busy, this place is for you.
The food was love at first bite. I couldn’t believe what I was eating was actually vegan. Amazing 🤩 definitely going back.
Only two tables occupied, surprised how slow it was. Made the 30 minute drive to get there through Boston traffic. Friendly and efficient service Gratis miso soup little weak Crispy fried order mushroom had meaty consistency, lite crispy batter I had mapo tofu, super spicy, plenty of tofu in chili red sauce with medley of chopped veggies served with brown rice The chocolate cake was dense brownie like and hit the chocolate and strawberry buttons of flavor. Only a distant visitor, so won't be able to try the two pages of options and page of special dishes. It's just nice to be able to offer anything and not have to worry about your veganism.
Great lunches, very reasonable prices.
