One of our favorite places to eat on the Cape! Fresh local seafood, great drinks and apps, live music and amazing sunset views. Highly recommend!

We had a group of 10 so they accepted a reservation for any group over 6. A nice atmosphere and beautiful at sunset overlooking Barnstable harbor! Valet parking but if space you may be able to park nearby in winter not during summer though!

It was super busy, as expected for a Saturday night. Cozy atmosphere, excellent food. Not used to restaurants only having valet as parking option but seems to be the norm on the Cape.

Did not believe it, this crazy woman waitress ran out to a parking lot, chasing us to complain about a tip that we left was not enough. Ruined the whole experience.

We called today on our way off cape to place a take out order. My husband said what he wanted and the waitress said “can I add 18% gratuity?” My husband was confused and said “no thank you” and she asked again. He again said please do not add (we were not even paying over the phone). And she hung up on him. Posting to warn others.

Have eaten here three time this summer, and no plans to ever return except for just a beer or cocktail, for one simple reason. Most of food is average to mediocre. The sea food is bad. What do I mean? My wife ordered the oven roasted Salmon. We specifically described to the waitress how we wanted it cooked, if it were a steak it would be medium rare. It came well done. I ordered fried clams, and did not describe how I wanted it cooked because I wrongly hoped they would know how to fry clams. The clams were dark brown, heavily battered and so over-fried they were inedible. The waitress stopped to ask how we were enjoying our meals and we gave her our honest feedback. She was very apologetic, but we told her it was a kitchen problem not a service problem. We asked for our bill and left our uneaten meals. To her credit she took our two main courses off the bill, but we tipped her the full amount. If I were to give them some Advice it would be to significantly reduce the number of items on the menu that require any cooking. Go to any fine dining restaurants and you will not find long lists of menu options. But most importantly train the cooking staff how to properly fry, sauté, bake or broil all seafood. The biggest problem at many restaurants on Cape Cod is that seafood is generally overcooked losing all the delicate flavors of seafood. Unfortunately Matareese is no exception.Parking: Valet parking is available and very helpful

The service was great, pleasant hostess, waitress, valet dude great ! For the price, food was mediocre at best. I've had chowder every coastal state, by far the least flavor & taste, would not recommend. My date's food lacked quantity vs. price. Atmosphere eh ... Service was

We ate at a few of the highly recommended area restaurants and Mattakeese Wharf was outstanding. Their clam chowder is the absolute best hands down. Loaded with meat and potatoes, thick and creamy and the best seasoning I’ve ever had. The Pasta Livorno was beyond fabulous. Loaded with lobster, huge shrimp & scallops, and whatever that sauce is, it’s fabulous. Hubs had the Baked Haddock and it was outstanding. Thick and perfectly seasoned. Service was impeccable. Fabulous enclosed outdoor area over looking canal. I’d give this place 10 stars if I could. It’s that good.

Great meal as usual!! I always have the fried shrimp, got cucumber salad instead of coleslaw.. good choice!! We splurged today and both got the lobster bisque for appetizer!! OMG!! It was so good, no pictures because we ate it so fast!! They sell it for $32 a quart, we bought it and had it for dinner it was so good….

My husband and I went for lunch when visiting Cape Cod. The food was excellent. I had a Turkey BLT. My husband enjoyed his sandwich as well. You are forced to do Valet parking. We had our luggage in the car so we were frustrated. The parking attendant leaves the keys in the car with the windows open. He claimed he watched the cars but went inside at least twice while I was there.

Yummy sandwich. Delicious Cod bites. The Cape Cod Reuben was spot on for a quick lunch at the bar. Great bar paraphernalia, the old cork screwes were interesting.

This place was wild. An old timer from the area told me while waiting "There's no AC or heat here. It's one of the last of the old places."It was really amazing explaining and the food was fantastic.Beware, parking is valet.
