Overpriced microwave dinner. $25 for two tiny pieces of chicken that’s falling apart and rice that’s been sitting out all day and hard. The history is a cool story and the cocktails are nice. Don’t come for dinner just a drink and to listen to music

For a great atmosphere, an intimate space to listen to live music, reliable mixed drinks, and a decent selection of spirits, Dream Away is a great place to spend an evening. And if you end up wandering out to the wood fire to gaze up at the stars, that's a wonderful plus as well.

However, during our visits both the kitchen and servers were a very, very long way from being even vaguely competent or dependable. Some examples of things that happened at our Dream Away dinners in 2024:

1) We were informed that entrees advertised and ordered off of the "specials" menu had "just run out" (at a 5-6 p.m. dinner).
2) Main courses intended to be hot were served either lukewarm or cold.
3) All meats were overcooked, and often very dry.
4) Although many of the menu items sounded quite interesting and even sophisticated, execution consistently ranged between pedestrian and amateur.
5) Water had to be requested several times to arrive at the table.
6) Silverware was removed, but not replaced, between courses.
7) Servers made little to no effort to check in after our food was served.
8) Members of our party had to go the bar to order and wait for their drinks (because the server didn't follow up on those requests, either).
9) The host/hostess seemed stressed, distracted, and disconnected from patrons both when we made reservations, and when they checked us in.
10) No one seemed to know much about the food on the menu (ingredients, etc.).

Now this was their first year after reopening, so perhaps in 2025 the Dream Away will get its act together on the culinary and service fronts. But I think what was most disappointing for us is that when we would raise any of our concerns with staff, no one seemed to care -- or worse, they became impatient and dismissive about what we were saying. Those interactions left a much worse taste in my mouth than the mediocre and overpriced food did.

My 2 cents.

We didn't know what to expect but what an adventure back in time. It was a steep ride up to the quaint house on the hill. I was surprised so many people were there. Definitely the nostalgia of simpler times. Dinner for us consisted of tasty treats, we had a wedge salad, lox, special of the evening toasts, and a burger. Food was fine, menu is on the smaller side.

A Hidden Gem with History and Heart!

Our recent visit to The Dream Away Lodge was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were swept away by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The live music was such a bonus, creating the perfect backdrop for an evening of good company and great memories.

The Lodge is truly a unique place to bring people together. The interesting pictures on the walls add to the charm, and knowing that Bob Dylan once visited makes it even more special. The yard and outdoor tables are perfect for those who want to enjoy the fresh air and natural beauty of the surroundings.

What made our experience even more special was the chance to stay overnight in their cozy cottage house. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day, offering comfort and tranquility.

The Dream Away Lodge is more than just a venue; it’s an experience. Whether you're looking for a night of live music, a gathering spot with friends, or a peaceful retreat, this place has it all. We can't wait to return!

We had a lovely dinner at the Dream Away! I had the trout, and my husband had the strip steak, both of which were excellent. The sides rotate based upon what is available locally, and they were incredibly creative. Try the cheese and pickle board... it sounds odd, but their housemade pickles are phenomenal, and it was definitely a highlight of the meal.

We had dinner at the lodge tonight for my brothers birthday. Lucy was our server and she was absolutely fantastic. She was very attentive, but not overbearing. She was very clear when explaining the menu and knew the menu like the back of her hand. Outstanding service made the food taste even better. Our party of 6 each had something different and all enjoyed our meals.
