21st Amendment is one of my go-to spots—I’m here almost every weekend, and it’s easily in my top three bars in Boston. The vibe is what keeps me coming back. Between the history of the place and how convenient the location is, it’s the kind of bar that just works whether you’re starting the night or settling in for a few drinks.
The staff is a big part of what makes it great. Mariajose and Francesca are both excellent servers—friendly, attentive, and consistent. Nick behind the bar is just as solid and keeps things moving even when the place is packed. Service always feels smooth and professional without being forced.
The drink selection is strong, with a good variety of beers and a well-stocked lineup of liquors. The food is classic bar food—simple, straightforward, and tasty. It’s not trying to be anything fancy, but it gets the job done, which honestly fits the place perfectly.
Overall, 21st Amendment is a staple. Great energy, reliable service, solid drinks, and a location that makes it easy to keep coming back.

Visited June 2025. A short red wine pitstop during a whistlestop walking day around the city. Clean and tidy, polite staff but a little dark inside to be fair.

I had the pleasure of eating and having a beer here after stumbling upon this absolute gem of a restaurant while walking around downtown. Bri was an amazing server! Very attentive and kind! Very refreshing to see from a server in restaurants these days. We never felt rushed or like inconvenience!! Will be returning soon!!

Horrible service even by Boston standards.
If you don't ask to clean the table, they'll throw a menu right on top of the visibly dirty surface, or better yet, put your glass of water right into the large pool of liquid left from the previous customers.
If you do ask to clean it, they'll take their time and then spray you with the cleaning bottle right alongside the table.
Things only go downhill from there.
Gave this place several tries because I leave nearby, but the food is just not worth the lazy, dismissive and utterly unprofessional service.

Went here today for the first time in years (moved out of area). Wait staff was beyond polite and friendly. Tables were clean and set with half the back area full of customers. Food was fast, well sized portioned and flavorful! Same experience I’d expect from going over the years when I worked in area.
The 21st Amendment is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is top-notch. The waitresses were absolutely lovely—friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel special. And the food? Amazing. Every bite was bursting with flavor, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to again and again!

I can't believe it took me so long to find this place, but I'm glad I did. It doesn't get any better than this...cozy old pub with a friendly staff and great food and drinks. The sliders were cooked perfectly and were amazing with thick pieces of juicy beef, and the Manhattan I had with it was great. Oh, and generous pours too! But the food and drinks were just the icing on the cake...the main draw for me was the atmosphere. It's just a nice place to warm up after a cold night out.
