“We made a last minute attempt to get a table and were told on the phone that they would do the best to accommodate us at 830 which they did. We were lucky to get the only available table at the time. The food and service were outstanding. We shared an argula salad which was enough for 2. The linguine seafood scampi had lots of seafood and sauce was light and flavorful. My husband liked the spiciness of his fra diavlo pasta. This was our first time there and now know to reserve ahead! We'll be back.”

Tresca

Tresca 233 Hanover St, Boston Italian • $$$
233 Hanover St, Boston

“Out of all the places in the North End, Tresca has been on my must try list for years. Never really had an occasion to go until yesterday for a date or a game. But it went extremely well. Very spacious and intimate on the inside—I love that it's 2 floors and has a touch of classic architecture like the doors. Then the food was?. I tried the chicken Parm egg rolls and gnocchi, while my date got the carbonara, and we we both impressed. So impressed, I forgot to take pictures?. The food was super hot upon arriving. It did take awhile to come since it was dinner in the North End on a weekend, but the servers constantly checked in and on 3 different occasions asked if we wanted fresh Parmesan cheese. Not too pricey either. I'd definitely go back. And is now my top North End spot. Would love to do Table 77 one day!”

“At a recent physics convention at MIT it was unanimously concluded that 1) the speed of light is no longer considered a constant; and 2) Ma Maison is the only remaining constant of the universe. You can throw a dart at the menu and still be amazed. This is the harshest possible critique of Boston's culinary reference point.”

Krasi

Krasi 48 Gloucester St, Boston Greek • $$$
48 Gloucester St, Boston

“A delicious Greek-spot in Back Bay. I made the reservation about 2 months in advance for a dinner reservation. What I will note, is that they have plenty of bar seating - if you arrive at opening (5PM/530PM), it seems like you can snag a spot quickly! The food was amazing - we shared everything tapas-style. The tzatziki dish was fun, they brought you all the ingredients to make yourself at the table. The rest of the food was incredibly flavorful. In addition, the wine list was expansive. We were served wine that was recommended by our waiter and it was great. Definitely a popular spot in Boston if you have interest in going! Parking is difficult in the area but you can ride share/take the T!”

Carmelina's 307 Hanover St, Boston Family • $$
307 Hanover St, Boston

“After 1.5 months of waiting, the day of my reservation for the ever-so-popular Carmelina's finally arrived. Doors opened right at 11:30 AM, and we were seated promptly after confirming our reservation (note: I like to dine solo, but this place has a 2-person minimum). A line had formed outside because they only hold your table for 10 minutes and kick you out after 90 minutes, so no one wanted to be late. The place was smaller than expected, with tables packed tightly together, which is typical of restaurants in the North End. They have a QR code at every table to scan for the menu. You must order everything upfront. Because of the small space, the smoke from the kitchen burned our eyes as we waited for our food. However, the appetizers and then the main course all came out within 20ish minutes, served in the pans in which they were cooked. We also got complimentary bread with olive oil to start.- Complimentary bread with olive oil: The bread was warm and crunchy. Not bad but also nothing special.- Risotto Milanese: Good portion size for $10; enough to share between two people. It was creamy and almost tasted like clam chowder.- Sunday Macaroni: HUGE portion size, packed with protein. For $38, it was well worth two meals. The whipped ricotta and meatballs were my favorite parts. The whipped ricotta was so fluffy and added a light creaminess. The meatball was very soft and flavorful. The beef rib slipped off the bone, but the meatier part was a bit overcooked and dry. The Sulmona sausage was thick but too chewy for my liking. The penne and sauce were fine but plain.- Frutti di Mare: Also HUGE. Great variety of fresh seafood that was cooked well. There was an even ratio of sauce to pasta to seafood. The pasta was soft, and the sauce was light and sweet. We didn't have any direct issues with the service, but we were a bit shocked at how they treated the table next to us, which put a bit of a damper on the meal.Overall, it was a very filling meal that gives a great bang for your buck, but relative to how hard it was to get a reservation, I have had better meals in Boston. I do appreciate that they accept credit cards (except for Discover), as most places in the North End are cash-only. Note that they charge a 3% kitchen appreciation fee. I would come back, but it's not a place for which I would be rushing to get another reservation.”

Mooncusser 304 Stuart St, Boston Seafood • $$$

“We went here for dinner last night and were seated at the bar. I could not say better things about the experience or the bartender that took care of us. The food was on point - everything we tried was delicious and none of the courses felt like they were filler in the menu. Some of the best dishes were the least expected ones (which is usually the case!). We went with the wine pairing for the meal and thought each wine was perfect with each course. There were some interesting pairings that really went wonderfully with the food. Of the current tasting menu, our favorites were the red snapper, the snail and artichoke ragout, the scallops and the sweet potato tamale. Definitely excited to come and try new iterations of the menu since it changes so frequently and DEFINITELY would want to sit at the bar as our conversations with the bartender made the meal.”

Rino's Place 258 Saratoga St, Boston Italian • $$

“Very homey atmosphere in a small dining room. CASH ONLY policy. Food is legit homemade italian with massive portions. Everyone, I mean everyone gets a to-go-box for take home. I ordered the house-made tortellini with prosciutto and peas in a cream sauce and did not have to eat again for a day. Parking is hard as its in a residential neighborhood and they will NOT seat you until everyone in the party is there. There is NO room to wait inside, so plan accordingly. But...all that is a minor inconvenience to get authentic homemade italian food. Wine is very affordable and service is attentive. Just GO!”

LULU GREEN 246 W Broadway, Boston Cafe • $$
246 W Broadway, Boston

“A chic vegan cafe experience in South Boston.Recently took a visit on a Sunday morning for breakfast. With bright decors and bar taking the center stage, the place exuded casual elegance, reminiscent of a chic wine bar.Along with the Namaste on Vacay Smoothie, I got the Strawberry Pistachio Hazelnut Croissant. Filled with strawberry jam and sprinkled with pistachios, the croissant was soft and indulgent. While it strayed from the traditional flaky and buttery texture I favor, it was still enjoyable. From their breakfast menu, I got the Seitan Wings and the Breakfast Sandwich 2.0. Glazed with a maple hot sauce, the wings were very tender, and its classic combination with the ranch dipping sauce was satisfying. The sandwich was a decent vegan take on the classic egg sandwich with a slight kick from the hot sauce. However, it felt a tad overpriced given the ingredients and portion size.Overall, a good spot for a casual yet elegant vegan cafe experience. Since they also serve dinner, I might come back to explore more of their offerings.Parking: Free street parking along West Broadway”

“Well, Sorellina does it again! We are thinking that Sorellina right now is the best restaurant in Boston, if you can pull it off! Service is awesome, food is superb! And we got a very interesting couple sitting next to us to have a great chit chat! Our food was split in 2 as requested. We love splitting an appetizer (tuna tartar is to die for), followed by primi size pasta dish (linguini with mushrooms), polishing with veal Milanese along with polenta.... Just superb! Wines by the glass are great- I had a glass of Chablis for pasta and a glass of Montepuciano for the veal-wow! Too bad we had to run to see the show, so missed the dessert this time. And the ambiance is super! Will come back soon...and you should too!”
