“Found this place on Google & Pinterest. So glad we gave it a try. The chicken corn soup was sweet and delicious, we had pork and cabbage dumplings, spring rolls, hot tea, fried rice and kimchi. It was all delicious. I don’t use chop sticks so they brought me a fork. Would highly recommend this place it was busy but we don’t have to wait long for a table and they had a steady line of to go orders going out as well.”

“A very popular Thai restaurant in Porter Square. I’ve been here several times, and the dishes are generally good. The papaya salad, spring rolls, fried shrimp and tom yum soup noodles were very good. However, the coconut cream-based curry soup noodles were too much salty and greasy, and the noodles were dry. Despite this, I would still recommend it as the best Thai restaurant in the Cambridge area!”

“My boyfriend and I stumbled upon Siagon Babylon and it has easily become one of our favorite Boston restaurants. The plates are small and I recommend getting a couple to share (tapas style). We loved that each dish had classic southeast asian flavors, but was so unique. You will not find dishes like this anywhere else in Boston. Excited to come back for more!”

“WOW! BBQ IN BOSTON
Last night I had friends visiting from the Midwest and let's just say that going out for seafood was not on their priority list but intrigued on how BBQ in the Boston area would compare with where they are from we ventured out to the Smoke Shop BBQ and chose their Harvard Square Cambridge location. From start to finish the experience and food was top notch. And according to group the BBQ topped what they are used to in the Midwest. Thank you Julius and Stephanie for a great experience and kudos to Andy and his entire team.”

“Good dining experience. Very friendly and knowledgeable service. My server replaced a dessert I didn't like with no change- which was very nice of her. Did the tasting menu which was nice. Next time I'll prob try the a la carte menu.

Parker House rolls:
Pillowy soft. Slightly sweet with a light dusting of salt on top. Butter was creamy and tasty too. 4/5

Potato pave
Like a giant French fry. Crispy outside nice and soft on inside. Topped with cavier and shallots which added a nice saltiness and savory flavor combo.

kampachi crudo-
Topped with basil, radishes, and cherry pepper drops
Good quality fish, slightly acidic flavor went well with the basil and radish. Cherry peppers added a light spice. Overall lacked flavor though 3.5/5

capitelli- topped with a Gremolata and capers, olive oil and eggplant
Very savory and well cooked. This was tasty 4.5/5

Pork loin with celery figs and peppers
Very tender and flavorful. Nice sauce with savoriness and a sweetest added by the figs 5/5

Dessert was a pear sorbet-
So good! Very. Tasted exactly like a pear. No added sugar no additives. so good! 5/5”

“If you’re like me and you’re in the constant pursuit of the elusive Matcha Softserve and anything adjacent to it, you will absolutely love the matcha frapp (more like a milkshake) here. I did not expect an Americana diner in Boston to have such fresh, fragrant matcha but here we are. I forget what the names of what we ordered were but all the savory was 10/10 (tbh the French toast was unimpressive but if you’re in the mood for sweets by all means go for it). My friends were obsessed w the vegan bacon. Wish they wouldn’t stock Zionist yo egg though!”

“We love The Helmand...it's not just a meal, it's an adventure. The food is beautifully prepared, the service is attentive and friendly, and the vibe is simultaneously exciting and sophisticated, in a comfortable and casual sort of way. The room has been full the four or five times we've dined there and the guests are always engaged in high-spirited conversations that you might experience in extended family gatherings. The dish has a compounding spice that, by the end, will leave your mouth tingly and numbed in the best way possible. One day Ill try something new, but not today.”

“All time favorite. This is one of the best places to get venison or any seasonal offerings. The wild mushrooms are so delicious and even my brother who hates mushrooms enjoyed them. The menu closely follows our seasons as everything that can be sourced from the wild is! There’s a constantly changing menu. The smoked trout is particularly memorable. The food really has a lot of flavor and depth. They have special wine dinners with fixed menu and pairings as well.”

The staff is always friendly, and the owners are so incredibly sweet. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.”

“Fantastic dinner, very dish was unique as were the cocktails. So often cocktails are marketed well but executed poorly, not the case here, fantastic creativity. Desserts were equally impressive. Service was wonderful and friendly, even with us dinning with kids.

“I frequent this restaurant to the point the staff recognize me! Handsdown best value and best quality hot pot in the Boston area (in my opinion). The meat always taste so high quality and flavorful - meat is very easy to taste amiss if it's low grade. The broth is delicious, especially when it cooks down. Excellent array of side dishes, only thing is it varies sometimes. Would love to see thin enoki mushrooms more consistently and my friend would love to see mussels more consistently. Other than that this is THE place to go to for hot pot!

Wheelchair accessibility: They have some tables that are wheelchair accessible. Would recommend going not on weekends as it gets very crowded there. But the staff are great about accommodating mobility aids!”

“It was a really enjoyable experience. We went there for a late dinner, and the staff was exceptionally kind and welcoming. Located on the first floor of a hotel, the restaurant gives off a vibe reminiscent of checking into a nice hotel. The space was pleasantly quiet and cozy with warm table lighting, which appreciated the most.

I highly recommend trying the grilled octopus—it was my favorite. The delicious aroma of butter, paired with sautéed vegetables and spicy sauce, created a fascinating blend of flavors. I also really enjoyed the spicy crab noodles, which featured minced crab mixed with marinated noodles and Asian spices. As for the focaccia, it was my first time trying it, and while it was a bit salty for my taste, the combination of perfectly cooked mushrooms, butter, and sweet cheese was delightful.”

“I tried this restaurant today and loved it. The fish and octopus were super fresh so I highly recommend trying anything with seafood in it. We also had a mushroom tofu dish, a couple of salads, and the strawberry tapioca dish and everything was so flavorful. A plus is the space which was really pretty and in such a nice location. I am glad to have discovered this gem of a restaurant and am definitely coming back!”

“Service gets 1 star because you pour your own beer from tap, and you pick up your own food when it’s ready. Because there is no food service you don’t have to tip. Every time I goit’s the manager who give the beer cards and I know the managers and kitchen staff is getting paid at least minimum wages.

Parking: It’s surrounded by apartments and businesses which have their own parking. You can park at alewife’s garage and walk.”

“My husband (who is vegan) and I were in the Boston/Cambridge area for work and selected Base Crave for our first meal out. We met two people from his job and noticed that the place was empty except for us and the staff. That worried me, but after eating, my only thought was “people need to eat here! They don’t know what they’re missing!” The 4 of us ordered vegetarian mo mo (omg - yum!), vegetable samosas, chicken tikka masala (I didn’t try it but was told it was good), Tofu Mushroom stir-fry chilies mild which was okay, probably because we got it mild, Plantain curry (my hubby says fabulous!), plain naan (very good), and the Mushroom Stir-fry Noodles, mild. My husband and I agreed that the best things on the table were the Mo mo and the stir-fry noodles, both had fabulous flavor! We definitely recommend this place and would love to eat there again!”

“Great local bar with solid drinks and great food.

Among the bars near Harvard Square, Abbey is my first pick for a laid-back drink on a patio. It’s just far enough from the noise, with reasonably priced drinks and, best of all, seriously good food. While the menu doesn’t push creative boundaries, they do the American bar comfort food done right.

Small bites like the Bacon Deviled Eggs and Pulled Pork Egg Rolls were tasty, but the entrée department was where Abbey excelled. Both the Salmon and Cod were outstanding—honestly, some of the best entrées I’ve had at a bar in recent memory. Each had an impeccable texture, almost as if delicately poached. The Salmon, paired with heirloom tomato risotto and a basil pesto vinaigrette, had a pleasant touch of acidity. Meanwhile, the Cod came with a potato scallion pancake, perfectly crisped and soaked in a shallot cream sauce, which added just the right crunch and salty punch to elevate the dish beautifully.

The crowd at The Abbey skews a bit older compared to some of the livelier Harvard Square bars, but it’s worth a visit f you’re after a more laid-back, cozy bar vibe. It’s popular among the locals, so if you’re hoping to snag a patio seat, I’d recommend going during off-peak hours.”

Quality, quantity, taste - phenomenal...I had the Mediterranean mix which was a great sample of all different tastes. The rice (usually just fill in deliveries) was excellent with that slight bit of saffron coating it. Thank you!”
