My childhood bakery
This place has always been the best family owned bakery in East Boston. Can’t beat the prices variety of pastries and warm welcoming every time. Must check out :)

An unassuming gem in East Boston! I was looking for some pastries to bring to brunch with friends when I stumbled onto A&L. My partner and I were greeted with so much energy from the bakers. We got four different pastries – cinnamon rolls, twists, cannoli and biscotti –, all soo delicious. Absolutely no crumbs left behind! The place has plenty of seating and so welcoming. Will definitely be coming back!

Hi, I am happy to know A & L bakery is now open, I been a customer for years but today was my first time going since you guys close for remodeling, Im sorry to give you bad news but I am really disappointed, I bought some bread ? this morning and I didn’t had the chance to see and taste until now, but the big rolls I bought they were perfectly fine but some little buns were burned and raw and also hard I don’t know if the cashier wanted to get rid of them but I don’t recommend to sale something that ain’t good. I’m sorry I had to leave a bad review towards your page because I have to throw the bread for my kids safety.

Owner would always smoke 2 packs of cigarettes while baking the modified cheap bread. His workers would sweep cigs off the floor every morning before opening. Shows he really cares about the community feeding them shortcut ingredient cigarette bread.

As a regular and neighbor - they get the job done! Fresh coffee, neighborly service, fresh & homemade goodies. And a mom and pop vibe. Give it a try! Their sugar cookies were a hit at Christmas too!

The best family owned and operated bakery. My family has been coming here since I was a child. Whenever we come to Boston, we always stop in. Rita is the best!
