Pretty good sandwiches and huge portions. The eggplant parm was solid! Will be back to one of the locations when I get the chance, its a pretty good deal for a nice lunch.

My wife and I stopped in here for lunch to go as we were staying right down the street. We ordered the State Street Cafe special and the Italians Italian, both were absolutely delicious and there was enough for two meals. We found the staff very friendly and service was super fast considering it was Friday around lunch time, We will be back the next time we're in Boston!

Excellent food and a great value! My friend got the eggplant parmesan sandwich and I got a cesar salad. The portions were huge for the price point and they put a lot of chicken on the salad for just $2. With a great location that is a short walking distance from the harbor, this is easily one of the best lunch spots in the area. My only complaint is that I wish they had a gluten free bread option for the sandwiches.

Al's is an institution you simply must go to. Amazing sandwiches and portions for great prices. If you work downtown and haven't been here for lunch, you've made a terrible error.
If you're a hungry tourist looking for lunch, skip quincy market and come get a taste of Boston's authentic sandwich scene. You may even run into the Al, the national treasure himself.
Just a warning, it's potentially the most chaotic restaurant in Boston and if you are going for the first time.... good luck.

We came in after close & they made our day by making us all *amazing* subs. We said it’s totally fine and we’d go somewhere else but they insisted and made us all fresh bread. Love u guys thank u

I ordered a large steak sub from there an hour ago. My daughter was finishing up her half of the sub, when she found a long piece of hair in it! This was my first time ordering from here and the sub was good, but we threw the rest out because of the hair.
Please have your employees wear food service grade hairnets! That’s not good for your business. And because of that, I will not be able to eat from this establishment again!

Food could be good if they actually get the order right. Just ordered a tuna sub thru uber eats and instead of adding pickles like I requested, I got tons of tomatoe slices. So yes, lunch completely ruined and money wasted on a taste I did not desire.
