I went to this cafe for the first time today. The coffee and pistachio muffin I got were great, but honestly the location and seating are the best. I'll certainly visit this place again!
Appleton is a delightful, under-frequented cafe with an amazing soundtrack, nice natural light, and a great outdoor seating area. The people here couldn't be nicer and their coffee is the best in the South End (not that there's a lot of competition, but Appleton's is very good). Their egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant was twice the size and at least an order of magnitude better than the same from Dunkin'.

Pleasantly surprised by this small neighborhood bakery/cafe. Simple, peaceful and charming. The nine minute walk from our Copley Square hotel on a beautiful Saturday morning was well worth it.
