If you’re looking for a cozy and quaint oyster bar in the South End, you have to give B&G Oysters a try! It is the perfect spot for a date-night or special occasion. It is very cozy and intimate. I wouldn’t recommend it for large groups, given the limited space. We decided to stop in to celebrate my mother’s birthday with some raw oysters. I would strongly recommend a reservation, especially given the limited seating and space. I am glad we made a reservation, as the place quickly filled up on a rainy/slushy Thursday evening.B&G is located in Boston’s South End. The entrance is around the side of the business, right off their outdoor patio. I look forward to returning when we have better weather to truly enjoy the patio! It looked like the perfect place to enjoy oysters on a gorgeous day!B&G is mainly known for their oysters and raw bar offerings. The raw bar is expansive and offers raw oysters, raw little-neck, and raw cherrystone clams. They offer multiple raw oyster options to suit every taste and preference. We prefer a larger, creamier oyster. Our server was well-educated on the day’s offerings and explained the flavor profile of each variety offered, as well as the location where the oyster is procured. The menu also offers fresh shrimp cocktail, crab cocktail, Jonah crab claws, and ceviche. If you are a fan of caviar, they offer three different types. For the larger appetite, they offer a “caviar flight”, as well as seafood towers with a solid variety. If you’re not a raw-bar fan, no worries! They have a solid selection of appetizers. You’ll find fried calamari, fried oysters, tuna tataki, and more. They also have a small selection of fresh salads and of course, clam chowder. The entree menu may be on the smaller side. However, everything here is incredible. They offer classics like Fish and Chips, Lobster Rolls, and Fried Clams. You’ll also see unique offerings, like Branzino. We decided to start off with some raw bar offerings. We are huge fans of raw oysters, so we took the recommendations of our server. We went with a dozen oysters, half Wellfleet and half Martha’s Vineyard. The oysters were exactly as described by our server. The oysters were medium to large size and they were some of the best I have had in the city. They were clean, no sand or bits to break a tooth on. Everything is shucked and prepared in an open kitchen.Next, we decided to order a few of the shrimp cocktail and the crab cocktail. The shrimp were medium in size, cleaned properly, and incredibly fresh. No odd aftertaste. The crab cocktail was a generous portion, highly recommend it with a side of their toasted bread. It is plenty to share and is very rich. For the main course, we decided to order the Whole Branzino. It is served with an incredible caramello sauce, charred lemon, and a crisp tomato/cucumber salad. The fish was cooked perfectly and our server was kind enough to assist in “de-boning” the Branzino. The Branzino was super light and flavorful. The caramello sauce is truly incredible and is wonderful on the fish. The tomato/cucumber salad was juicy and crisp and complemented the fish perfectly. My only complaint is that we didn’t EACH order a fish. It is THAT good. The best I have had.We will certainly be back. The Lobster Roll and Spicy Clam Linguine is on our list for the next visit! The service is top-notch and the servers are actually educated on the raw offerings of the day. That is a rare thing these days! Pours are also very generous. We cannot wait to come back for more oysters and to enjoy a meal on their outdoor patio. It looks like the perfect spot to kick back with some fresh oysters on a beautiful day!My only suggestion would be is to offer a larger dessert menu. That was the only thing that left a bit to be desired. Aside from that, one of our new favorites in Boston!Parking: Parking is very difficult, if not impossible. You can wait and get lucky and snag a street spot a block or two down and walk it. Otherwise, I’d suggest garage parking or take an Uber.Any other parking in the area is mainly resident-only, permit

Went here for lunch on a Thursday and loved it! Oysters were awesome and the French fry flight matched perfectly with that and the wine. A little pricey for lunch is my only complaint but we did get two of each oyster. I imagine for dinner time the place is even better. Cute place!

On a rainy night in Boston, this was the perfect atmosphere to cozy up at the bar and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere B&G has to offer. As we watched the line cooks prepare dishes in front of us we were able to sip wine and enjoy a multitude of wonderful food. From the variety of Oysters to the tuna tataki , or the crab arancini every bite was delicious and money well spent. They do a great job here and we will certainly be back!

This place has gone way done hill. Use to be a favorite, portions smaller and fried clams were not cooked enough. So sad bc was a favorite for years. Won't be back anytime soon.

Great service, seafood was cooked to perfection! Our waitress was amazing who makes sure our cup of water is always full. She offer us toast that goes well with the seafood which was not part of the dish. Each day, they receive different kinds of oysters and it was so plump and tasty! Definitely recommend anyone who likes seafood!

Lovely upscale dining in back bay. Cozy, and well appointed. The kitchen is small and does a great job turning out beautifully prepared seafood dishes. We particularly enjoyed the Banzino.

The service was friendly and prompt . The atmosphere is very cozy and quaint .The raw oysters were amazing and fresh . octopus was tasty . Lobster arrancini was yummy .Avoid (!) the lobster rolls !!! They are $45 a pop . The lobster was all chopped up , had shell pieces in it and was overcooked and over lemony. It had ( no butter flavor at all ? To top it off , even the roll was disgustingly soggy . The worst and most expensive lobster roll ever .The waitress comped after I complained , which was very kind .otherwise , stick to the oysters !

Cozy & intimate with fabulous oysters . Octopus was great & lobster arrancini yummy . Avoid Lobster roll which was awful -chopped up , overcooked & dry . Lots of lemon in a soggy roll . The $45 price tag was ridiculous. Service was attentive & friendly . Stick to oyster anything on the menu & thoroughly worth it

Food was okay - not worth the price in my opinion. $18 for a bowl of mediocre clam chowder and the drink I ordered had too much ice and so watered down quickly. Ended up spending $50 on a non-memorable meal. On the bright side ambiance and location are nice and they have a good happy hour deal on oysters.

Best fries in town, hands down. The bar is great spot to get a bite. It's a very fun and cozy spot with great service.

You have got to be kidding! Went for lunch which started off ok with attentive service. we were quickly seated as the place only had a few patrons. Upon first glance we noticed all the flowers at the tables were dead (not a good sign). Menu offering for lunch was very slim so we ordered the fish and frie plate(29.00) and a kale salad to share(18.00). Salad was chopped kale with sugared pecans and cranberries in a dressing that was good but ridiculously overpriced and barely enough for two to share. The two small pieces of oil saturated fried fish were presented on a plate with a heaping amount of fries and a small cup of pickles, tarter sauce, ketchup and slaw. The taste of cooking oil overwhelmed the fish but you knew you were eating fish anyway. We enjoyed the fries, they were plentiful and filling. The waitress disappeared and couldn't be found, but was replaced by another server when it came time for the check. Hugely overpriced and totally not worth it, sorry to say.

We love this restaurant. We have come here for many years and usually have the same meal built around the lobster roll with warm butter. We did have sticker shock at the cost. But we recognize eating out in Boston is expensive. Will save B&G for special occasions
