Fabulous crudo and pasta and salads. Excellent service. Modern and creative, but rooted on simple ingredients. Truly the food quality rivals any Italian restaurant I’ve been to.
My s/o and I have been coming to Bar Mezzana for years now. We used to live across the street at 345, so it was a short and easy walk over for whenever we wanted some cocktails or to share a late night pasta (or both). We’ve always had a wonderful time at Bar Mezzana. Our choice of seats are always at the bar, and we’ve always felt taken care of by the bartenders here. They’re extremely attentive and super friendly! And great memories too.
We haven’t gone as often since we moved to the North Shore, but try to pop in when we can. Today we spontaneously walked in and found two bar seats immediately open which was nice considering how busy they were. While we haven’t been in a few months, the lead bartender recognized us and welcomed us back in. My s/o and I lean more quiet and less social at the bar, but the “nice to see you again” greeting is a kind and warm touch. It’s just the right amount of familiarity that will always keep us coming back!
Oh, and the food and cocktails are also very good! But the bar service absolutely wins 👏🏻
Solo dining after a conference when I wasn't hungry but knew I had to get something. EXCELLENT service - attentive and professional. Good cacio e pepe. A scoop of sweet cream gelato was just perfect after. Sorry I'm leaving tomorrow; I would return.
Just amazing! 🥰
Went there with friends who were visiting from out of town. They heard good things about the place and so did we. We were all very disappointed.
I suspect the biggest issue is the manager.
The table was overloaded with dirty dishes, and the servers weren’t checking in. Twice we had to remove dishes to put them on the table next to us because as they were bringing additional dishes, they left the dirty ones on our table. You’d assume they would realize after the first time. Instead, the second time we had to do it, the manager came and made passive aggressive comments about needing to keep other tables clean. She should’ve been managing properly by asking her staff to clean tables, not being passive aggressive towards customers. Customer service at its best.
The food quality was okay at best. The eggs for the Benedict and the shakshuka were extremely overcooked. And it’s not like the restaurant was even busy for them to not be paying attention.
Won’t be coming again and will tell friends and family to avoid this place.
Food was fabulous! Service was fine, but so rushed (the reason for 4 vs 5 stars). It felt like they respectfully wanted us out from the get go. Putting the bill down and interrupting conversation before we even got halfway through our dessert was quite irritating. This restaurant could be AMAZING without this issue.
Not only was the service horrible to the point of blatant disregard of us beyond our one drink order (with 30 minutes of empty glasses - drinks and water), but I also tried to avoid leaving this review by providing constructive feedback to the restaurant staff in person. Unfortunately, no one was even present to have a conversation. We had just dined at Kaia across the street and the drastic difference in service was both unfortunate and disappointing.
Good and different (pesce crudo) but overpriced
My husband and I had dinner last Sunday night. It was a beautiful experience with impeccable service. I am going to remember my quail dish for a very long time. Highly recommend
We love Bar Mezzana. The bucatini amatriciana is our go to comfort food and we love also love the Orchid Thief, an orange flavored mocktail with a hint of vanilla. It is consistent and the service is always good.

Great place for an evening out. There were 4 of us, and we treated the offerings like Italian Tapas. Very unique menu with vegan offerings and other shareable medium plates.

Well visited italian restaurant on the Harrison corner . On a busy Friday night we were seated outside with an interesting view of the eclectic crowd. Our server was prompt and busy but quite capable. We started with the arancini and corn which was tasty. The salt cod croquettes were more like fish and chips. The focaccia with the eggplant dip was flavorful. I came for the lobster paccheri but that was disappointing. The pasta was too al dente and difficult to eat. There was hardly any sauce and it was very under seasoned. There was plenty of lobster which was slightly undercooked like the pasta. The crab tagliolini had a nice lemon flavor on the other hand.
I had the best Octopus. I have had the dish outside of our country, but many of the preparations were rubbery. The Octopus at Bar Mezzana was exceptionally tender.
