The most important criticism we had was that the noise level was so loud that we had to practically scream at each other to have a conversation. It made it made for a very unpleasant experience. In addition, we felt that the food was not up to its usual quality.

I'm not happy with the direction this restaurant moved in. They changed to tapas a while back and then abandoned it thankfully. The food is still excellent. Portions are smaller, no healthy salad or vegetables to eat.

In the competitive canvas of really good dining options in the Greater Boston area, Bar Mezzana was truly a delight. The room was energetic yet comfortable-the open back of the house operation was clean and crisp, the creative Coastal Italian fare was overwhelmingly perfect and the service was extraordinary!

We have been at Bar Mezzana on different occasions and they never failed to impress. Although the menu is on the smaller side, every dish is of high quality and exquisite taste. Our favorites are the bread and dips, the antipasti salad, the burrata and squash, grilled octopus, and the whole branzino. The service is excellent and the ambiance is modern but cozy. I highly recommend!
Perfect dining experience. Server, Shantel, was stellar. Appetizers, entrees, drinks, and dessert were terrific. Owner, Heather, stopped by table to say hello. A new Boston favorite for me.

My friend and I stopped in for some drinks and lunch. The experience was lack luster. Firstly, our server David was terrible. He never listened to use. We ordered a bottle of wine and instead he served and charged us by the glass. Whenever he poured the wine he spilled it all over the table. We asked to split the check between my friend and I and he charged it to one card.
The food was also ok. The burrata with toasted squash was tasty but the avocado toast was awful. It was a thick slab of toast with a very thin layer of avocado.
I would definitely not come back, especially since there are so many other great options around.

This is one of my all time favorite restaurants in Boston. I love their seafood forward menu that is continually being refreshed. I’m in love with their crispy artichoke appetizer and I always always get the lobster paccheri as my main. They always have a great crudo selection too. The service is also excellent- everyone is very warm and helpful. Highly recommend!
