Made our reservation via Open Table which we showed for but they canceled us.. probably because we gave our honest feedback and told them that their food was subpar so they retaliated. We ordered 2 appetizer, the 16 oz pork chop that we asked to be split, 2 sides, alcoholic beverages, etc. We received about 9 oz of chop that was flavorless, the pork belly mac& cheese was dry and only 3-4 tiny pieces of pork, asparagus stalks included the white part and service was totally lacking. To add insult to our not so good experience, they took away our Open Table points!!!! If you're wanting a top notch experience & quality food & service, this is not the place!

My dining experience here could be summed up in a single word: disappointing. TLDR: they charged me for the blue cheese olives in my martini. I thought it was a joke. What kind of restaurant rule of law are they following where that’s socially acceptable? “Oh, but they give you free french fries..” please - I’m happy to pay for fries; it’s not going to break the bank, or better yet, I can go to McDonald’s next door for a post-dinner snack. The dinner was nothing noteworthy, and I can’t say the hospitality was any better. The best thing about this restaurant was the big red door and my back walking away.

Located in downtown Boston, close to Macy’s Department Store and the Downtown Crossing Station, the location is convenient. This time I took advantage of the Boston dine out event to visit this restaurant. From the Dine out menu, you can choose from appetizers, main meals, and desserts (a total of US$46). You can choose the oyster and prawn platter for the appetizer, the hanger steak with French fries and lettuce for the main meal, and the cheesecake for dessert, with an additional order of smashed cocktails. The oysters as an appetizer were fresh, and the shrimps were elastic, sweet and delicious. The meat in the center of the diaphragm is surprisingly soft and tender after being grilled, the French fries are crispy and delicious, and there are plenty of sesame leaves. Although the cheesecake is not very big, it is rich and delicious with the special sweet strawberry jam. The overall meal is delicious and the dining environment is comfortable.

I sat at the bar and was greeted by this wonderful woman. I wished I knew her name. Her service was wonderful. She was the only bartender handling everything. I loved her spirit and saw her hard work. The food came out less than 15 minutes. It was super quick and tasted so scrumptious! I totally would recommend going here again. The drinks were superb.

Came to Boston for a birthday weekend and ate dinner here to celebrate. Jay was our waiter and it was a truly phenomenal experience. I 100% recommend going here. The wine, the thick cut bacon, the ribeye & pork chop were out of this world. Thank you for a 5 star dinner!

Very nice ambiance.
Service was very friendly.
Entree came out entirly cold, which was fixed promptly. But the place was not that full so not sure what happened there.
I was also overcharged by $90. This was as also fixed, but back to back mistakes like that must be noted. Got to take a start away there
What I had:
clam chowder
Lots of clams, lots of lardons, lots of flavor. Very good! One of the best clam chowders I've had. 5/5
French fries:
Taste like McDonald's fries from the early 2000s. This is a compliment. They fries rock 5/6
Denver steak
This was a special, but was cooked perfecly, but it came out cold as die the rest of the items on the plate. Once fixed this was a very tasty dish 4/5
Carrot cake:
Gigantic, moist and tasty. 4/5
I would have said 4/5 overall, but with the issues I have to go with a three. Will update if my next experience goes smoother.

Impeccable service by Vinnie! Super attentive and so kind as well as knowledgeable in regards to wine and food. He made our night 10x better.

Not bad, but clearly understaffed in the front and back. The food quality is decent, but the kitchen seems incapable of cooking something medium rare, so don't bother with the Kobe - mine was well into medium and my wife's was basically black and blue. For $100 a steak, I would expect the restaurant to have enough money to buy a meat thermometer.
Good cocktails, good atmosphere, and the server (while clearly overworked) was friendly and helpful. Just a shame that a steakhouse has so much trouble with steak.

This was the best restaurant I have ever eaten at. I went with a group and we all had the best steak ever. The steak pretty much just melts in your mouth. Our appetizers were outstanding as well! Boston Chops was definitely a hit for everyone and we were all so satisfied. If I could rate this higher than 5 stars, I would. I will definitely be coming back!

Visited for the 1st time.
3 of us sat at the bar and had 2 ribeyes 1 dbl pork chop
sautéed mushrooms. potato and broccoli.
Luke the bartender was awesome.
We watched in awe as he and his additional bar mate served up untold cocktails with speed and accuracy. We had expresso martinis and Manhattans
Fantastic place hiding in plain site behind a red door.
Definitely a must to go to again.

Restaurantji Recommends
Went there was light with my wife and another couple. Great atmosphere, the place is very cool. Good selection of beer, wine and alcohol. Seafood tower and caviar were fantastic. The wagu was overly fatty, have had it at other places prepared differently and was more enjoyable. Wish it came out cleaner and pre cut for the table. Entrees and sides were good. Recommend a visit here. 4 adults and drinks $988.00

Absolutely amazing food & SERVICE was one of the best we have ever had. Our serve Jay was truly kind, fast and made our night so special. The beef Wellington is one of the best meals I’ve had in my life. We also had the Iberico pork chop that was tender and so flavorful. Will be back so many times!!! Thank you!
Everything we ate was UNREAL, and our waiter Jason was incredibly kind and helpful. We came for my husband’s birthday, and he really made him feel special. Will certainly be returning!!

Boston Chops has long been one of my favorite steakhouses in Boston, particularly their South End location. Recently, I had the chance to visit their Downtown Crossing outpost for the first time, and the vibes and layout felt familiar—chic yet inviting. The service, as expected, was impeccable, but the food wasn’t as great as its sibling location.
Solid: 18oz Bone-in Ribeye
Decent: Crispy Mushrooms, 20oz Chateaubriand, Thai Chili & Sweet soy calamari
Perhaps it was an off day for the kitchen, or maybe this location simply doesn’t capture the same magic as the South End spot. Either way, the dishes, especially the steaks were a bit disappointing. While seasonings were on point, both the Chateaubriand and the Ribeye had lackluster crusts, and the former initially threw me off with its aroma. It wasn’t spoiled, but it lacked the freshness I’ve come to expect from more popular cuts like the ribeye.
As for the starters, the fried calamari was technically well-executed, but the Thai chili sauce was too overpowering. Crispy mushrooms, on the other hand, was slightly bland. The thin batter gave the mushrooms a nice crunch, but the accompanying garlic hummus failed to elevate its umami.
Still a solid steak dinner, but next time, I’ll stick to the South End location and my favorites-the porterhouse and ribeye.
