Since when Kunafa is from Isnoreal? Haaaa they take even the food and culture 😐 anyway the food in this place could never compared to authentic Arab food.

I drink tea everywhere I go and have to say this was the most unique and well done. A bit odd to get service for a simple drink take out though.

I got seated quickly. Then it took 25 mins for a server to come to greet us. They were going to all the tables around us, just not ours. They weren’t busy
the place was 50% full. After they took my drink order, it took another 15 mins
but not even everything was ready
But I’d had enough and was leaving as the partial drink order arrived 40 MINUTES AFTER I got THERE. Worst service EVER.

Nice place with great food and coffee, as well as excellent bartenders and waiters. However, the management left much to be desired. It was disturbing to witness how the manager treated her team. At one point, the bartender was simply showing something on his phone, and she took it away from him because she doesn’t allow staff to use their phones during work hours. Seriously? It felt like being in a kindergarten. This type of management not only affects the team’s morale but also impacts the overall experience, as I could tell the staff were visibly upset.

On top of that, when I asked for a table for one, the manager was not particularly nice or welcoming. Such a shame because this place has so much potential. With better management, it could be a truly great spot.

We came on Sunday in a very cold weather day. There wasn’t any line when we came at around 11.30ish. Food were very good. I love the Baba Ganoush, just I wish they gave more pita bread. Chicken Shawarma was also very good. Ice Nutella Latte was not that sweet either which was nice. People mentioned that their service can be slow, but when I came it’s ok. Acceptable pace. I asked one of the staff for wifi password, he asked me to wait and later he asked the manager to answer me. Apparently not all waiter/server here knows the password. It’s a minor thing but when everyone is busy, maybe better to write the password in the table or something to minimize customer’s waiting time. But other than that, its all perfect.

This is a solid brunch spot with great variety of both classic American and middle eastern dishes. The pancakes are so fluffy and the shakshuka was delicious, however the decorative cast irons left a metallic taste on some dishes. I also suggest that you try to sit at the front of the restaurant for nicer vibes, the back is dark and has no windows.

Was staying at the Charlesmark hotel and was starving. The bartender didn’t know how to make an old fashioned and had to google it. The bar was filthy, the dirty glasses from patrons long gone stayed on the bar the entire time as well as numerous mystery stains. The bartender eventually came over. I asked for a menu, I guess they only have one. The bartender had to take it from another customer. It was a drink menu so I asked for a food menu. The bartender said “don’t expect full service”. Next the restaurant staff came to the bar and complained about the restaurant customers loudly in front of me. I kept expecting Gordon Ramsay to walk in. Truly a nightmare restaurant. I only sat at the bar, not the restaurant and to be clear, it was 8:00 not 5 minutes before closing but still the bartender seemed very upset to have a customer. The food was actually good though. I blame myself. There were red flags everywhere, I should’ve gone somewhere else but I was cold and hungry. Never again Cafe Landwer
never again!

I use Cafe Landwer ( Back Bay) on a regular basis. Often doing take-outs. Last time me and my wife had an unpleasant experience that I would like to bring attention to. We ordered our food to go and went to a bar area where we got sitted and ordered smoothies. At some point another waiter (not our waiter who took our order) came asking us to move, since according to them they needed these bar seats for other people. Needles to say that we refused, even though that person tried to insist. I think it is unacceptable to charge us full price for food plus tips, plus drinks with tips and have audacity to tell us that we need to get out!? The bar sits are first-come, first-serve. They were not reserved. No basis for harassing customers who are paying and tipping.

Unrelated but good to know, if you order pancakes to go, many times you will discover when you get home that they are burned on the side that is not visible when you get them. We stopped ordering pancakes because of that.

My suggestion to management is to raise the bar on customer service/appreciation and don't cut corners optimizing revenue short term. Most people see through those tactics.

Very picture-worthy brunch with pretty good flavor! The coffee is quite good, definitely better than most breakfast places. Not exactly authentic, but food is solid. The Benedict sauce is okay, but love that they use challah bread!

Overall would come back, especially for the coffee!

Terrible service and careless waiter. The waiter, Yousef, showed no interest in serving customers. I asked for bread while eating, stopped my meal to wait, and it seemed like he forgot. I had to ask twice more, and in the end, he brought the wrong bread. When I pointed it out, he didn’t care at all. Very disappointing experience.

Food is subpar at best. The falafel was cold, the roasted eggplant lacked flavor, the hummus was a little runny for my liking and everything overall lacked spice. The service was lovely and attentive, but having been to different Cafe Landwer locations abroad, we were thoroughly disappointed. The baba gannoush was oddly sweet. The shakshuka was good, but nothing special. The highlight of our meal was the delicious fresh bread that was served to start. Definitely good for someone not familiar with middle eastern food, but not for anyone who knows the cuisine.
