We went for brunch on Saturday morning. Everything was amazing. Our waiter could not have been more personable or attentive. The service was spot on. The food was delicious...between the 3 of us we tried the huevos rancheros, the pastrami reuben, pancakes and cheesy grits. No complaints at all, in fact, far from it! My friend said it was one of the best reubens she had ever had! I had been to Metropolis a bunch of times for dinner but this was my first time for brunch. I will be back!!

Metropolis is a very nice restaurant with very well prepared food and a nice ambience. The food was outstanding. The service itself was excellent. However, it was noted to us, just a few minutes before 7 pm, that our table was reserved for another party at 7pm. We really had just been able to get part way through our entrees, and it certainly would have been more pleasant to actually have time to order desert, coffee and to be able to linger. One other note: we ordered G it would be nice if some better quality alternatives were available.
Got the metropolis breakfast. Wasn't asked if I wanted bacon or sausage and it automatically came with bacon. Ended up ordering a side of breakfast sausage since I really wanted sausage. Annoyed that I wasn't given the choice and also that the specials weren't shared with us.
I got the prix fixe restaurant 3 course special. It was fantastic. My friend and I gushed over every course. I woke up and am still thinking about my meal. I will be back and excited to have found a restaurant to add to my favorites.

Our first time at the Metropolis Cafe was great, and we look forward to returning. The menu options are terrific, and food well executed. The waitstaff is friendly and well-informed. We were there for brunch, so didn't study the available drinks, and can't comment on that.

Our waitress was so nice and friendly, the brunch food was great and I love how this little place with it's intricate ceiling and mosaic floor makes me feel like I'm in Paris.

Overall a great experience with excellent food and service. One small glitch: we requested my wife's leftovers be boxed to take home, but they were mistakenly tossed out. Our server then had the kitchen prepare a small, fresh portion to replace the food that was tossed. Exceptional customer service.

We got there after seeing a play, and were very near the kitchen closing time. No problem! They accommodated us graciously, and the food was delicious -- especially my pork osso bucco. the staff was excellent -- there was a medical incident at another able that involved EMTs arriving and administering CPR, but they handled it all with total aplomb. I would (and will) go back to this restaurant any time.
I've been eating at Metropolis since it opened in 1995! I hadn't been back in several year. Last night (2/13) we had a FANTASTIC dinner! Our server was charming and efficient! The atmosphere was beautiful. The metropolis hasn't changed and I'm glad for that. A Boston classic!
Food tastes good but the portions are too small for the price. I got two slices of bread on my plate that could have been just one slice cut in two. They had an apple cider mimosa on their specials that was really good. The place has a cool vibe. I'd go back to grab a few drinks at the bar and get a side of hash. Maybe not for a whole meal.
Food was fantastic! Only reason not five stars is that the drinks were underwhelming. Didn't really get the flavors they mentioned on the menu. Not to take away from the food though. Food was phenomenal.

Great food - and such a cozy spot. My wife and I both got the risotto (shrimp for me - chicken for my wife). Delicious. Only negative - and this isn't about Metropolis - it has been a while since we have traveled to the South End to eat - and I had forgotten just how terrible the parking is in that part of Boston. Guess what - parking still stinks - Covid or no Covid. We did find a spot - and we hired a sherpa to bring us over - so we didn't get too tired.

Metropolis never disappoints, it's always an amazing dining experience with such a great staff. The food is amazing, especially their Chicken entree and the brussel sprouts app.

A great place to catch up with a friend or two. Better for small parties because of the size of the restaurant. Service was attentive and warm. The food was delicious and looking forward to going there this winter for a evening night cap after work.
