Excellent experience and meal at Casa Romero! We had the guacamole/salsa/chips, the chicken enchiladas - one each with verde and mole sauce- and the shrimp fajitas. Delicious! Can get loud so ask for a corner booth if you want a more private conversation.
Casa Romero is a wonderful restaurant, and we have been dining there ever since we moved to Boston in 1987. As always, the food was delicious. In addition, we had a delightful young waitress who is studying the saxophone at Berklee College of Music. A fantastic luncheon!
The finest Mexican food in Boston. I lived 6 years in southern California, and Casa Romero is as good as anything I had out there. Ambiance is relaxed, friendly, and intimate. It makes me wish I lived in Back Bay so that I could visit often.
We ate at Casa Romero in Back Bay last night. We all enjoyed it. The food, the service and maybe most importantly the hospitality all 5 star. One in party had the mushroom quesadilla (served as an app but big enough for an entree), one had the large ceviche. As good as ever after all these years on the menu. Two of us had the tacos pastore. Three delightful small tacos with pork and peppers. All delicious. This place has been there for 50 years and it's easy to see why they have succeeded for so long. Compliments to everyone we encountered but special thanks to Omar our server for his gracious service.
We had a reservation and showed up 15 minutes early which the did seat us which was nice. The restaurant was empty. The server offered chips and guac as soon as we sat down and when we said yes cautiously because we didn't know the price she said ‘I'll bring two for the table' without asking ($17 each we found out later). The food came out quickly and was fine. Then before we'd been there for even 45 minutes they asked if we wanted dessert and dropped the check. While we were chatting the server came over to try to get us to pay. Then someone else came over and cleared everything in a clear signal that they wanted us to leave. It felt like we were rushed out for a walk in table even though we had a reservation and the upsell for chips and guac was crazy
Prices have gone up a ton and service was quite slow. I used to go here all the time, quite disappointed this visit
I ate the enchiladas and the pina colada and it tasted good. Some staff was quite rude however.
been eating at Casa for over 30 years. Its a neighborhood gem that has stood the test of time.
Atmosphere is fun but margaritas are $18 so drinks easily cost more than the food. The fajitas were small, oily, and served in a bowl that sat in the beans. Non-vegetarian rice, and the fajitas sides were in tiny little jelly dishes. Maybe enough sour cream to use on one fajita. Chips and salsa are an up charge.
If you want to eat in a place where you feel like you are at your house and Mom is cooking, Casa Romero is the right place. The food is incredible, fresh, and tastes with mixed ingredients, fresh tortillas, and sauces that are out of this world. The service is excellent, from the bartenders, servers, and hostesses, all of whom provide a warm welcome. The place is clean and organized. I wish I could stay in this place every day, eat, and drink. Walter Solorzano Food Safety Consulting

Very small portions; $6.50 for a small plate of chips and Salsa (they give free to the bar patrons so if you must go sit there) and $27 for chicken fajitas (I thought it was a kids meal when delivered to my table). Won't ever go back and suggest you don't waste your time/money at the restaurant.
My wife Marsha and I had our first date at Casa Romero 53 years ago. I was not surprised thatv we lasted 50+ years, but for a restaurant? They have not lostv their mojo! We hadf a wonderful dinner, enjoying their tremendous innovative butvreasonably priced menu. Bravo Cassa Romero!
Overall just a ok experience. For Mexican food it was very much average, we were stuck in the very back room, they were out of their most popular drink and three of their main dishes by 7pm on a Friday! One was their signature dish they've been making since 1972! Kind of a head scratcher....Had hoped for so much better.
Food is always fresh and authentic. Service was spot on. Always a great time with great drinks and food
52 years of delicious mexican food! Beautiful space & attentive waitstaff. This is a gem hidden in Back Bay.
