Cheers is the Boston pub that inspired Cheers on Beacon Hill. It was previously known as the Bull & Finch Pub. Founded in 1969 as the Bull & Finch Pub; Cheers Beacon Hill became the original inspiration for the setting of the TV sitcom "Cheers". When the producers of the TV show were looking for a location to depict the ideal American bar, they went to Boston, which is famous for its colorful pubs, sports teams, and lively politics. The TV sit-com premiered on September 30, 1982, and aired until May 20, 1993. Today, this pub is still open and features a full menu which is posted on the sidewalk railing, upstairs and outside. We viewed the sidewalk signage from a moving tour bus. It was fun to see this and know that it is still open.

You can get a souvenir mug when you buy a beer/cider. The cocktails are also good! It is awesome to be able to actually sit in the Cheers bar that was so beloved! A bucket list experience for sure!

Decent restaurant overall, served typical pub food. Service was quick, and the prices were pretty reasonable for being in Boston. Very cool to see the inspiration for the TV show in person.

Good beer and good food. Like that it retains it's original identity whilst also being the Cheers bar.

⭐ Review: Cheers Bar in Boston

I visited Cheers Bar in Boston and it was such a fun, iconic stop! The place has a classic Boston charm and immediately gives you that nostalgic feeling from the “Cheers” TV show. The décor, the atmosphere, and the friendly staff all add to the experience.

The bar itself is cozy, welcoming, and full of character. I really enjoyed walking around, taking pictures, and checking out all the details from the show. The menu has a nice variety, and the drinks come out fast — great for relaxing after walking the Freedom Trail or exploring the city.

Even if you’re not a fan of the show, it’s still a cool spot to visit and enjoy a drink or a bite. It’s one of those must-see Boston landmarks that gives you the real local vibe.

This is a cute place to eat, but the food was pretty low end. Some of the prices are steep. I had a pasta with meatballs and it was definitely one of the less impressive pastas I have had.
It came with cheesy garlic bread, but it was so hot and so moist that it seems like it was probably microwaved before it got to me. My spouse had a burger and fries. The fries were not bad and his burger was a pretty average burger. I believe the largest appeal to this place for people is the Cheers background. I never watched the show, so for me it was a pretty average pub with below average pub food.
A lot of the menu items are creeping up to the $30 price range. For some reason there was only a $1 difference between a mug of clam chowder and a bowl of clam chowder. The cost was $15 which is extremely steep for chowder and the chili was the same cost which is a bit crazy.
We did have very attentive servers. It has a lot of character, it is a loud place.
