Double Chin is an Asian fusion restaurant with many interesting and innovative menu options. It's always quite busy which is a good sign as well. ATMOSPHERE/ARCHITECTURE: 7/10 Average size restaurant in Chinatown with a decent amount of seating for 40-50. It's always bustling inside which gives it a nice vibe. SERVICE: 6/10 I won't be overly harsh here since there was literally only one waitress/server and she was being bombarded everywhere at all the tables. However, it literally took 30 minutes for us to get our check. That's a little too much to ask even if she was doing her best. They need more staffing. FOOD: 7/10 Tteok Bokki - 7/10 - About average for tteok bokki. Not overpowering spiciness but also not super sweet either. I do like the modern touch of cheese over the top which is trending these days. I thought this was a decent dish, but not one that I would specifically come here for. Peking Duck Fries - 7/10 - One of the more unique dishes here. French fries topped with Peking duck and hoisin sauce. I thought this was a decent combination that was good, but not the excellence of fusion. The fries worked with the duck but did not really make it better than the traditional dish. Matcha Ma Callit Toast - 8/10 - Hong Kong style French toast with a bunch of toppings and several scoops of matcha ice cream. This is definitely sized for a group to eat but I thought it was a great dessert with a random smattering of food. VALUE: 5/10 Dishes are pretty expensive, even for Boston. PROBABILITY OF RETURN: 5/10 Ultimately, despite a unique menu, there's not much here that is clamoring for my return. TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT: No hard recommendation from me. Overall so so. OVERALL: 6/10

Worst customer service and food is mediocre! I won't waste my time. One server seems hated her job! And rude as hell! Maybe learn to be nice to other people especially you working in hospitality.

1. Mandatory 20% tip without prior communication. We (party of 2) went for dinner at 7pm, and a 20% tip was added to the check. I saw that the menu did mention "20% gratuity charge automatically applied to all parties of 6+ or after 12am", however we were not a party of 6+ and we didn't go after 12am. The server then explained that the 12am should be 12pm, which sounds ridiculous to me. The restaurant does open past midnight on weekends, so I believe the menu should mean 12am. Why did the server insist that the 12am should be 12pm? Just for charging the mandatory 20% tip at their will?2. As a first-generation immigrant born in China, I don't like the food at all. Maybe it's for American-born customers.

Great fast service. We loved the crab and seafood noodle soup. Great friendly service and a lot of food choices.

I saw this place in youtube. I thought the place is pretty rundown despite selling it as modernize fusion HK cafe. Spam and taro frite: as you can see in the picture, only a few sticks for $13. It looks cute. The sauce is pretty bland. The sticks are very oily. XO sautéed rice roll. This is tasty. But has a lot of bean sprouts and only a few rice roll as seen in the picture. Maybe the dish should be XO sautéed bean sprout? Doublechinwich: scallion cake as bread was great idea. Kids love the scallion bread, but the char siu taste old. Mac and cheese chow Fun. It is ok. I don't think the cheese mix well with "hor fun" as the normal Mac and cheese. It is fulfilling. I will ranked Xo rice roll, then Mac and cheese chow fun, and the other 2 dish dead last.

This place has one of, if not, the worst service my table and I have experienced. To start, the waiter (early 20s Asian man) was incredibly rude taking our order. Then he brought out the wrong dish to our table, which at the time, we thought was our dish. It was difficult to try and resolve this dish issue. Our waiter then began cleaning other tables but was slammed the dishes/tray loudly. Our waiter then stopped checking up on us and when we finally wanted our check and boxes he was again very rude. We do not believe a 20% tip was justified for the horrible service and asked to remove the tip, but when we asked, they just looked at us like they did not understand and just rolled their eyes. Also, the food is not worth the price. 15 bucks for a mid dish… spend your money elsewhere. Also, also, very uncomfortable furniture. This place acts like they don’t want to be in business because they hate customers.

The reason we visited this place was the nice cocktail menu. There was a group of people who were pretty drunk when they came to this place and one person among them was clearly sick and nauseous, we were seated by the door and saw him run out about twice. The third time we saw them, the management evicted them from the restaurant. Shortly after this one of the employees came to us and said we had to pay a 100$ bill because “our” friend had puked and they needed to charge a sanitization fee. He first told that I’m sure it was your friend we saw the camera. First of all, WHY DO YOU HAVE A CAMERA IN THE RESTROOM. Secondly if they did, we asked to see the footage because out friend was clearly okay and drank nothing but a glass of wine. The employee immediately told we’re still checking the footage I’m just saying it as a precaution, I KNOW you guys didn’t do it. In my eyes, it clearly felt like they tried to take advantage by ASSUMING we were drunk. This was not all, man spoke so much about sanitization and then literally threw a cigarette butt right in front of us while we were waiting to get a cab in the restaurant passage. Honestly, even the food wasn’t that great and they had a default tip of 20% for such terrible service.Attached are the pictures of the restaurant hallway and the cigarette butt he threw

Recently, we happened to be in Boston Chinatown for a day-long expedition. Being vegetarian, we expected something of a struggle while searching for places to eat beforehand. However, this actually wasn't the case: Double Chin seemed to be highly praised by most, and the menus shared online presented multiple options for people who don't eat meat. Plus, you can always ask for substitutions. Something we specifically appreciated here was that each person got their own plate- meaning you could portion how you wanted from the main dishes you ordered. We ordered two things. Firstly, we got the mapo tofu, and specified it to the server for it to be vegetarian. Apparently you can also ask for it to be vegan, as a table next to us ordered the same mapo tofu but vegan. Along with the mapo tofu we got a side of fried rice, which was very simple- just egg and rice lightly fried together, no veggies. The mapo tofu was absolutely delicious. Honestly, it LOOKS spicier than it actually is, and had more of a sweet flavour than spicy, which was really interesting. The tofu chunks were generously large, and there were also red and green pepper slices in there too. The second thing we ordered was the ginger scallion stir fried noodles. Or, at least that's what it's called on the menu I'm reading at the moment... anyways, this was fantastic too! Personally, I go nuts for anything sesame or scallion, so this was an excellent choice for me. We had some leftovers of this, and it was delicious re-heated at home too. The only issue we had was the fact that some of the items we were interested in on the menu were just not available. We pointed to what we wanted on the menu to the server, and they said something like 'we aren't serving that'. What..? The item I personally pointed to wasn't even crossed off in black marker like the rest of the 'unavailable' things, so that was a little weird. Overall, what was available at Double Chin was pretty good! The mapo tofu was a splendid experience, and the noodles were awesome even re-heated the next day. What was and wasn't available to be served on the menu was a little confusing, so make sure you always have a 'second choice' so you aren't left scrambling at the last moment to choose something else.

I like the drinks here but recently my friends and I had a terrible experience with one of the servers. He was extremely rude and snapped at us several times, bumped into me/pushed me every time he brought something to the table, and also brought us the wrong food. He also was slamming plates and glasses onto our table, and threw dirty dishes into the bin from other tables so loudly that the whole restaurant was looking around to see what the noise was. He just had such a rude attitude that the experience left us never wanting to come back. Also something to consider: The food is so-so and some of the prices on the bill didn't reflect what was on the menu. Also they included a 20% tip that we ended up having to pay despite the poor service and our asking another server if we could adjust it.

Unbelievable meal. Got 4-5 things to share with my brothers. Every single item was perfect. Service was perfect and very very quick. This place has replaced hot pot as my must-go whenever I visit Boston. Can’t wait to go

My order was late night as I work late and needed an order for lunch there weren't many options open I chose this restaurant the issue I have is with the chicken the popcorn chicken I was expecting some spicy taste from the chili and tenderness but the flavor wasn't there the chicken was hard and dry it was so hard when it arrived even though I'm only 0.4miles from the restaurant I have no clue as to why it was barely warm and dry but I tossed it out it's a 20$ flush but the boba tea wasn't half bad I would be careful what menu item is ordered based on the results

This restaurant offers a delectable fusion of modern Chinese cuisine with inventive flair. The desserts here are as visually appealing as they are tasty. The ginger bean sprout noodles stand out as my personal favorite – a seemingly simple dish that's incredibly flavorful. The ambiance inside is uniquely cozy, setting it apart from anything else in Chinatown, complemented by lively and enjoyable music. The staff are exceptionally welcoming. Additionally, for those looking to pick up some Asian bakery treats, there’s a convenient bakery attached to the restaurant. This spot has been featured on the Food Network multiple times, making it a fantastic choice for either a casual snack or a full dining experience.
