Effie’s is a Roslindale gem. Though they are mostly a takeout spot, and their menu is kind of limited, Effies is easily some of the best Greek food I’ve tried in the greater Boston area - and I used to work in a Greek restaurant. Effie herself is always there working hard. Do yourself a favor and get a Greek salad with chicken or Gyro today!

Looks appealing but it was anything but. Unfortunately, I’m sick so my friend was kind enough to get me some chicken soup and it was probably one of the worst chicken soups I’ve ever had. It was extremely salty, bitter, and I don’t think there’s chicken in there…would not recommend soup. And it was nearly $6 for such a small portion at that.. again would not recommend this meal but looks like their gyros are popular

I was at the Roslindale library with me 5 years granddaughter. We stayed there for hours and never wanted to leave the favorite place of my granddaughter, but we were feeling both hungry. I said to myself; “ let me try Effie’s place. I have never tried that place. I ordered pork gyro, French fries, spinach pie and cheese pie.
For years I never had a gyro in USA like the one I had in Greece. Delicious 🤤 .
The spinach pie and fries were very good too, but the cheese pie which I got for my granddaughter it wasn’t what I expected.
Thank you Effie.
We will be back soon.
A gem to our neighborhood.

Great food, no nonsense atmosphere. Love the gyros. I used to go there all the time back around 2005. My job took me far away.
I recently came back & stopped in for a gyro. Great memories in the flavors of my youth.
Thanks Effie, glad your still going strong!

Food is very good. Unfortunately, their prices have always been inconsistent. But $16 for a Greek salad with chicken from a neighborhood restaurant is ridiculous. May as well go to a restaurant for a sit down dinner.

How professional when the owner's daughter, Mel "Diaz," jumps on Google and Facebook to attack a customer who had a bad experience. The city's inspectional services department made your mother put the sign up following the pop up inspection. They also made her throw away all of the moldy baklava that were on display at the front counter. Would select McDonald's any day now over the nasty food served at this place. Big mistake on our end to try to support a local business.
Will post receipts.
In response: the city certainly DID make you throw away moldy baklava. It is a public 311 report. They also asked that you post a notice that day informing customers of a charge for cash/card price difference. Screenshot is posted. Nothing is defamatory either..all truth..so your threats don't scare anyone. Lol. Maybe take down your fake reviews while you're at it. It's against Google policy...

I’ve been going here since they opened. The place is clean, the owners are great! and the food is fresh and made to order. Looking at the below complaint about a surcharge fee had me laughing. There has been a sign up right in front of the register for years that clearly states if you pay with cash it’s cheaper and if you pay by card you get charged a fee. Crying over an 89 cent difference because that customer played blind to the sign that’s literally in your face as you’re paying is hysterical. The owners are hardworking people and it’s customers like below who try to tarnish Amazing small businesses because of their own mistakes. If you want good, fresh homemade food made by workers who love seeing their customers happy go visit if not then I advise you to take your business elsewhere like McDonald’s and quit your crying.

Now I remember why I live so close to this place but NEVER go. The food is mediocre but they will nickel & dime you. Purchased two gyros & the total on the cash register was $24.61..why did the owner charge $25.59 to my credit card? Illegal & will be disputing it & reporting them to the city.

Please stop charging credit card surcharge fees without disclosing it to the customers. It's unethical and illegal in this state. The gyros that I bought today weren't worth over $25!
Great dive for fantastic Greek food at good prices.
Had a gyro and a spinach pie and both were delicious.

I can safely say that I am an expert in fast street food. I ordered Gyros from this place. And I want to declare with full responsibility that this is the best Gyros of my life!!! While I was eating it, I was in seventh heaven! It's sooooo tasty and fast. I recommend to all lovers of fast food to try this masterpiece of culinary art at least once.
