My friend and I came here for my pre-birthday party celebration. Honestly I spent several months trying to obtain this reservation and we couldn't have been more excited. The drinks were interesting and creative, the food was so-so including pita bread that was half warm half soggy, but truly I cannot believe how unfortunately terrible the service was. Phillip, the bartender who crafts the drinks and serves the 9 guests, from the get-go was incredibly standoffish, rude, and awkward. He told us that he would explain the different drinks on the menu, however his explanation essentially was a 25 second explanation of how there are different drinks and that you get to choose 2 drinks from a certain part of the menu. Fine, my friend and I actually laughed it off and just thought maybe it's a frustrated creative individual who's too busy working on his art. As the night goes on, I ask him what the name of one of the lentil dishes he served us, and he glares at me for about 3-5 seconds without saying anything, and I clarify that I'm Lebanese and that he mentioned the dish was Lebanese, and he walks away and says "well I'm sure whatever you've had is better than this." Incredibly odd, but okay moving on. Then after our 3rd round of drinks, it became clear that he has been drinking this entire time as we are drinking, which is totally fine but may explain what is coming next. Then Phillip and my friend (who truly is the kindest human being, works in healthcare and is completely selfless) lock eyes for a moment as he is walking back and forth and she smiles and he immediately says "you're like just a people pleaser, aren't you..I can tell, you just are a people pleaser." It was so out of left field. Okay finally my friend and I are just laughing off the last bit of insanity this man has left us. Finally, he gives everyone one last shot to take before we go home, and that's when my friend asks "Is this shot textured?" which is a term that Phillip had used earlier in the night to describe one of his drinks. Phillip immediately CONFRONTS her in front of the entire bar and says "what are you doing, making fun of me?" And she says of course no, she was legitimately asking a question and just using a term that everyone had been using the whole night. And he says, "okay so you're making fun of me? just admit it, you're making fun of me" and she kept reassuring him about 8-10 times that she was simply just using the word, she meant absolutely no disrespect, she was just purely making conversation, and using a word she just learned. And he truly made an unbelievably awkward situation and ruined the night by repeatedly pressing on and on about how she MUST be making fun of him, where else had she heard that term, and to just ADMIT IT and that she was making fun of him. "No its okay you were making fun of me, just admit it" and that's what he just kept repeating over and over again. Honestly, we couldn't get out of there fast enough, even though I had told him "hey let's just forget it man" and still kept harassing her. I'm not sure if it's because he was drinking throughout the night or if he felt entitled to say and treat people any way he pleases just because we all have pre-paid for this experience. But honestly, I thought I would go every season as a local Bostonian, but I cannot believe how absolutely unprofessional, unwelcoming, and rude Phillip was. It was an embarrassing, uncomfortable situation that just left us feeling like we were harassed and attacked. We are guests in your 9-seated bar...I think the absolute minimum thing you could do is treat us with kindness, treat us as your guest, welcome us, and be positive - we were trying to engage and connect with you all night Phillip, there is no need to attack your guests. I really don't know what else to say other than you ruined our night and gave us a truly unusual story to dine out on for years to come. Once we read the review

If I could only get cocktails from one place for the rest of my life, they would be at Farmacia. The seasonal menus mean there are always new and very creative cocktails to try and the 9-seat limit lends itself to fun and interesting conversations with your host and other patrons. Phillip is so welcoming and accommodating and it really adds to the experience. Reservations are hard to come by but are well worth the wait.

Some of the best cocktails I've ever had curated based on a rotating theme. The food accompaniments were also excellent and paired well with the cocktails. The overall ambiance was very intimate as well, with quiet music (matching the overall theme) allowing for individual conversations.Solid location to have a date. Phil seems to work hard curating the menu and theme. It makes sense why this place books out months in advance.

The cocktail bar that is gradually ruining me for all other cocktail bars. I don't have enough superlatives for this bar. It's an oasis of calm and incredible drinks hidden away within the tourist chaos of the North End. Phil and Campbell are exquisite hosts, providing delicious and unusual flavour combinations to a small selection of bar seats. You need to plan ahead and make a reservation 2-3 months in advance to guarantee a spot, but it's more than worth it. I can't recommend it enough. Just go!Dietary restrictions: I recommend emailing in advance if you have dietary restrictions - they were very accommodating of one of our party members and we appreciated it.

Cocktails were original and tasty! Every round was well thought through and had accompanying snacks to go with it. The service was incredible, every question was answered and drinks were suggested based on taste.

After waiting many months I was very thrilled with my experience at Farmacia! The cocktails tasted amazing and it’s clear Philip and Campbell take their craft seriously. I loved the chai espresso and the cardamom old fashioned. It’s well worth the wait!!

My favorite place to drink in Boston! I love the variety and the creativity that goes behind every drink. My favorite part is that even though I am pregnant Phillip makes me mocktails and lets me use the bathroom as many times as I want!

Philip, the bar director, was fantastic. Treasure trove of knowledge and stories that perfectly complemented the cocktail seating. The seating itself (only 9 people) was an intimate walk through such a rich variety of flavors and liquors. The nibbles in between were also to die for.

My husband and I came after getting a last minute reservation from a colleague. It was such a cool, intimate experience and Phil and Dan were so kind, patient, and knowledgeable. Their butternut squash soup was like, seriously so delicious (who would expect from a cocktail bar). Most of all, we really appreciated Phil’s kindness in contacting us when my husband left his wallet at the bar the night before. We’ve been trying to get another reservation there, but haven’t been successful. If you can get one, definitely go and enjoy!
