Just a great old school neighborhood joint - by design. The food is honest, high quality, and prepared well. Staff are friendly, considerate, and accommodating. Vibe is old school South End. Check your attitude and entitlements at the door......and you will have a great time. Brought me back to a time when I used to live a block away.

Great service, great ambience and fun seasonal cocktails.
We went on a Friday at 5pm for a dinner date. Our waiter Isar made the evening amazing.
We had the focaccia+humus and the grilled calamari to start (super super tasty!). Then we had the spicy ragú, incredibly good- and the steak frites, a must as well.
I cannot remember the beer my partner got but it was algo very very good.
We didn't take any pictures because we were so hungry and excited that we finished the food so quick!!
We cannot wait to be back soon!!!
Edit: came back in September for a date, this is my partner's fav place in Boston. Took a picture this time :) Andrea was a true pleasure of a waitress and we really enjoyed eating in the patio!

I visited the Franklin Cafe on a Tuesday night. It was 11pm, so it was one of very few places still open. Upon entering, you’re greeted by a dark and expensive vibe. It’s quite lively for a Tuesday night.
I got the Sweet Pea Ravioli, and my girlfriend got the Duck Confit Quesadilla. My ravioli was very delicious. The flavor profile was really complex and was enjoyable all the way to the after taste. My only wish is that the portion was bigger for what it cost, but I don’t regret getting it at all. I ate slowly to savor it. The quesadilla was quite good too. It was very flavorful, and the tamarind glaze brought it all together.
The service was decent. The waitress did seem more interested in chatting with the people who looked like they had money (I wasn’t expecting to go out to a nice restaurant so I was in my gym clothing) so we did have to wait for a bit to get seen throughout our visit. Overall, however, I would highly recommend this spot. I would recommend dressing up though!

We made a reservation and was seated right away. For brunch, I recommend sitting outside if weather allows to enjoy the nice view of the South End! It was so pretty and we enjoyed the fall vibes sitting outside. The server was very attentive and he noticed our table was wobbly and fixed it right away.
Food was amazing! We got the french toast and the corned beef hash and eggs.

Hello, I'm writing to inform you about the poor education and terrible service of your staff.
I politely and kindly asked the waiter if I could have the payment receipt. At first, he told me I couldn't have it, then under my insistence, he said he would go check.
After 10 minutes, I asked for an update and he told me he was very busy and I had to wait. I replied that it was fine and thanked him.
After another 10 minutes, I went to ask if he could help me, given that it was a work dinner and I needed the receipt, but I was told he was very busy and couldn't help me.
After almost 30 minutes of waiting, I had to ask another waiter 2-3 more times, and after my insistence and several requests, he finally managed to print the receipt for me.
It's a shame that such a beautiful place is ruined by such rude staff.
Unfortunately, I won't be coming back.

Awesome atmosphere with tasty food and creative cocktails. The host was very nice even though it was crazy busy. The mocktails are also fun, so teetotalers can enjoy the fun too!

For over a decade since I've been going, this favorite go-to has served up consistently delicious food in a warm, inviting setting with outdoor seating. It’s a local classic — lively and fun, with great value and a bar that buzzes without ever getting rowdy.
