I showed up here because Netflix’s Somebody Feed Phil made it look irresistible—and let me tell you, he did NOT lie. The English Duchess on cornbread? Pure genius. A flavor party where everyone showed up. The diner vibe’s classic—counter stories, clinking dishes, and friendly banter. Big shoutout to the staff powering through the heat like champs, still smiling like pros. Somebody get them an AC! Amazing food, great vibes, and a true slice of diner magic. Somebody definitely fed me well.

30 years of success, great food and atmosphere. One of my favorite eating establishments . Been awhile and I'm overdue for some home-made hash.

I am by no means a BOSTON native, just travel here for work a few times a year, but this place is WIKID AHHHHSUM! The Southie omelet is 100% a must have. The sourdough toasted and slathered with buttahhhh is so phenomenal! Coffee was hot and fresh. The South American style sausage no one can pronounce was also on point!

Started going to the Galley in 1995 when Paul & Colleen first opened and was a loyal customer until we relocated to Florida from Southie in 2020. Glad Paul & Colleen’s daughters took it over and still run the place. I can’t wait for my next visit and breakfast at the Galley.
Don’t come here, you don’t deserve it. This is a gem.
Love this little diner in South Boston. There are only a few tables and a few counter seats, and that is it! Great food, fun atmosphere. Just check the hours - only open Thursday thru Sunday, and sometimes not even on those days if they have vacations. But as far as diners go this one deserves a visit. No wait on Thursday mornings but weekends can take a little longer to get a seat.

Hi Galley Diner,
Ate here today and everyone was so nice, thank you so much for the delicious food. Sitting down for breakfast instantly made me emotionally invested in the people, the history, and the business.
I do have some notes - and this comes from a place of love.
Takeout Orders needs to stop. We arrived at 10:30 for a 2 top, waited 30 minutes to be sat, and then waiting another 45 minutes for our orders to be taken. The kitchen can’t handle that amount of volume, and it hurts the experience for the people who are coming to dine in.
It’s a small restaurant and efficiency is really key. Between the bread station, and the grill, the coffee machine and bus station - I think it would do you well to re-imagine the flow. Don’t put the hollandaise sauce in the back with the dishwasher. Making sure the ham is pre-cut every morning would save a lot of time.
In general decluttering would help, more prep time, and to focus on the in dining experience would help turn tables faster.
I have a sneaking suspicion that over the years the experience has changed, and I would like to see Galley get back to what it once was.

Anthony Bourdain came here for a reason. The food was great. I mean... probably the best omelette I've had in years. The steak was incredible and the French toast was perfectly unique with its own flavor that was subtle and easy. Great bread. The whole atmosphere was made perfect by the eclectic celebration of exactly what makes this place special. The people were kind and made it feel like you were genuinely welcome and that they were happy we were there.
