To start they are overpriced for what you get and there was a long line. Despite the line we decided to try it. The location is convenient, inside is nice, and the cupcakes looked delicious. As for the cupcakes themselves, the standard vanilla on vanilla was delicious. However, the chocolate peanut butter cupcake tasted horrible. The peanut butter tasted as if it was made with salted butter, and the chocolate had a burnt coffee taste to it. The purple unicorn (essentially vanilla with food coloring) tasted as if it was just cream cheese that sat out for a week as the “icing” was crunchy. The actual cupcakes were hard and lacked and sort of freshness. My wife ordered Gluten Free, and could barely get through one, as it was hard, crunchy and tasteless. The staff were cold, just pushed people along. That being said the gentleman boxing the cupcakes was amazing, super friendly and funny. For the amount we paid, we were highly disappointed. We expected so much better, especially with all the bakeries in the city. Would not recommend.
They usually have two flavors of vegan cupcakes , it's either carrot cupcakes or apple cinnamon. I got the apple cinnamon which was ok but pricey $$$ for the size. The To-go packaging was super cute.My friend got the chocolate ganache and one more cupcake that had eggs so I couldn't try them but he said they were so-so.I appreciate that staff wore gloves while picking up.the vegan cupcakes and packed it separately from the non vegan cupcakes. My friend who was their customer had restroom emergency but they refused saying the restroom was closed which was unfortunate.Won't be going again, it was ok for one time.
I always enjoy a few treats from Georgetown Cupcakes when I am in Boston. The cupcakes are always fresh, delicious and beautiful. The staff is always friendly and attentive. Reminds me of their beginnings and how much I loved watching their show years ago.
Came here for pickup a few cupcakes for my niece since I was in town for lunch. The cupcakes never disappoints, it is as good as I remembered it when I worked on Newbury Street. Definitely try their cupcakes!
I think the cupcake is more of a cultural thing rather than a taste thing. My personal opinion is that it is just a lot of sugar and it lacks actual texture and depth of what a good cupcake/dessert should be but GT cupcake is heavily liked and attractive to many people, being an obese country, I'm not too surprised.Their espresso drink is low, very low, I could get better milk based espresso drink out of most machines I have seen. Now you all must be wondering why this is 3 star review. The reason is I have to be fair and judge the taste based on local perception of what is good.
dessert: got cupcakes for the first anniversary. their cupcakes are usually good but a little crumbly, not as soft and moist as I would prefer.??♀️would I revisit this place?: Yes, but not for a while.
It has been years since we had Georgetown Cupcakes. The vanilla with pink frosting was so moist and fluffy. I loved the vanilla frosting. I didnt like the chocolate frosting, it was too rich for me but the chocolate cake was good.
The cupcakes are superb, they have a nice variety of them too. But we ordered hot chocolate to enjoy with our cupcakes and the milk had gone sour. Unfortunately it was far too busy in the store to go back and tell them…
I ordered cupcakes in advance for my son's birthday from Georgetown Cupcakes, which did not arrive on the delivery date --- and still have not arrived. I received a confirmation -- but no tracking info -- and my credit card was charged. The national shipping line just rings and rings after calling 3+ times at different times, all during business hours. The company is non-responsive on all social media. Despite how delicious these cupcakes might be, I would not recommend ordering with them. Not reliable, non-responsive and I am *still* trying to resolve this issues amongst doing everything else for my event.
Arrived at 8:52 on a Friday when the store supposedly closed at 9. The hours were posted on the locked door. The store was fully closed, and employees were hiding in the back. They saw us waiting outside. If the hours changed for the day, they should’ve posted a sign. Otherwise, it’s just false advertising and bad customer service.

I’ve been extremely disappointed with my last few trips to Georgetown Cupcake on Newbury. I have gone here for years and even went for the grand opening to meet Sophie and Katherine. I do not know if there is new management or bakers, but they do not follow the recipes online / the company standards anymore. They do not put fillings in the cupcakes. The first time this happened I emailed them and was told, “I have to request fillings in the cupcakes”. That makes zero sense, that’s like having to request a bun when you order a burger. This is how the cupcakes are advertised online and quite frankly for the price you expect the recipe to having the filling/ingredients provided. Corporate told me to go back and try again and this time I went in store versus ordering online… nope. Got home and still no fillings and the cupcakes were dinky as anything. I don’t understand why it has gone so downhill. If you know me I’m obsessed and go often - I even get a dozen cupcakes for my birthday versus a traditional birthday cake because it has always been my favorite place. I hope corporate reaches out to the branch and updates them on how to make the cupcakes properly…
I tried the chocolate coconut cupcake, it was moist, just the right amount of sweet, and delicious! Will definitely go again!
My roommates got me a box for my birthday. My expectations were high but they were still exceeded. Easily the best cupcakes I’ve ever had. We demolished a dozen of them in under 2 hours. Expensive but worth the price. Couldn’t recommend enough!
UPDATE: We just received the gift card in just a little over a month. Thank you Georgetown Cupcake, we will be putting this towards our next purchase and hopefully the cupcakes are as great as they used to be!Our company orders cupcakes for our office's from Georgetown every month to celebrate our employee birthdays. It seems like this particular location has unfortunately gone down hill....Last month we placed a 48 cupcake order, and half of them came melted and tossed around.I immediately got in touch with customer service who apologized and offered to send us a gift card for the inconvenience. It has been over 3 weeks and we have yet to receive anything. I have reached out to customer service again who told me I need to get in touch with their shipping headquarters. I left a voicemail and will wait to hear back.We will be trying out other cupcake business's around the area in the meantime.
Great Cupcakes, friendly staff, good prices.Only 4 stars because no drinks were available as shown online.Did I mention great cupcakes?
