A little bit pricey, but they have a wide selection and great options. I’m partial to the bubble waffles (so buttery!) and the fruit-based drinks - not too sweet
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly Recommend!
Tried this bubble tea spot on Newbury Street, and it did not disappoint! The place itself is small but super cute, perfect for a quick stop while strolling around. One thing to note—they open at 11 AM, but when we went right at opening, the store wasn’t quite ready until 11:30 AM. So, if you’re planning to go early, maybe give it a little extra time to get the boba toppings to get ready.
We ordered a tea without the boba toppings, and honestly, it was amazing on its own! The flavors were perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and super refreshing. If you’re a bubble tea lover (or even if you’re not), definitely worth checking out. Will be back for sure!
I used to love this place, but I was disappointed on my last visit. They used to have caffeine free milk flavor, but they don't anymore. There wasn't any Taro in stock. The mango flavor didn't taste like mango and tasted like brown tea.
Excellent service.
The interior/atmosphere was disappointing, but the boiled tapioca was even, so it was appropriate.
Gong Cha Newbury is the Newbury Street Franchise of the globally popular Gong Cha boba shops.
One feature that stands out is they sell bubble waffles with or without ice cream at this location, though it does tend to get on the more expensive side. They also have a deal to sell instant ramen, which I find a bit weird (ramen and boba?) but it doesn't bother me.
The boba is pretty standard with other locations, nothing that makes it different from other locations. The bubble waffles are good, though takes a long time to make. Ice cream is good as well.
i love gongcha, but this place isn't as good as the last time i went. i got a wintermelon tea with boba. the tea was decent, and the boba was way too soft, not even chewy: it seemed a bit overcooked, unlike the times i went before when it was fine. theres only one or two people working, even when its super busy, which seems stressful for the workers.
would go again if i was in newbury walking around, but the boba is 50/50 chance of being good or too soft
Not the best, pearls were soft and not chewy, had run out of red velvet powder couldn’t get my hot drink but they did everything else comes hot also, so I picked one - which is made a a slushy and so didn’t come hot - so I gave up on the hot….
Love their Gingerbread boba bottle for the holiday season.
Went on Monday, got food poisoning from the new seasonal drink there. Was the worst ever . I never got food poisoning before from this location.. im not sure what they put in this drink this time but it was horrendous.

So they have this new waffle product, which looks great – however without any warning, it took 30 minutes for it to come out. The staff is not apologetic nor did they seem to care. Others were having the same issue. Bottom line, don’t come here for the waffle.

I only tried the soft serve for this location. They had the oolong and mango yogurt today. Their flavors change from time to time. I tried the oolong soft serve which was pretty good, not too sweet. Remind me of milk tea.

As a customer, it’s so uncomfortable to hear the employee slam the chairs and closing sign so aggressively. It was so obvious she wanted everyone out when they closed. Which of course I understand but that attitude was really not necessary. Some people were still waiting for their drinks. And it was barely 9:01.
