Good vibes and beers! At quite reasonable prices! Live music some days and board games available! Worth a visit!
Casual venue for drinks. Was quiet in a snowy Saturday. Large selection of beers and one cocktail in a can. Some diversions for kids (basketball, some board games). Large slice of tasteless pizza. No parking (altho it was so quiet that we grabbed an employee parking spot).
Great selection of IPA’s. Got here pre superbowl so it was quiet…nice place to just chill…
For years we have been coming to Boston during our kids winter break and always make it a point to stop by Harpoon as it is a family friendly place, great beers and our kids love playing the board games they have. Not to mention, their pretzels are incredible. This year however, when we stopped in to Harpoon, they turned their main room into a “private event space” where you needed to purchase a ticket for $17 just to go in and drink beer and look at the tacky decor they had up. Worst part, they didn’t allow anyone under 21 in. Now I could see if they had a tasting event or giving out free beers but that wasn’t the case. The amount of families with kids under 21 that we saw turned away in the 10 minutes when we were there was astonishing. This wasn’t even just on the night we went either, apparently it’s been happening for 2 months now. Hopefully when we come back next year, whom ever thought of this bright idea will no longer be associated with them.
Friends and I went to their Christmas pop up bar. It's a cute idea and the decorations were great. You buy a ticket for an hour and a half reservation.
We ordered a few appetizers which were all good, the cinnamon pretzels were Amazing! We got a drink ticket per person with holiday themed drinks. The sangria was good, friends who ordered the cider weren't crazy about it.
It's a little overwhelming when you first get there and the seating is like a "fend for yourself" system. They do announce when it's time for the different reservation times to leave but it's pretty much on the honor system.
The thing that really disappointed me is they do not serve, sell or have the Santa boot glasses or any themed glasses like their advertisement showed.
It was a good experience. Lots of people were dressed up in their Christmas finest, ugly sweaters etc. I wish we thought to do that. 🎄
The bartender didn’t even look at me and never ask for an order. I was there at the corner of the bar in the tasting room for 10 minutes. The bar smells like an old bar with old beer at the floor. If you like the brand just go to the store.
My friends and I went here for their jolly event, and although their decoration is very festive, there’s just not much to do, especially with the time slots that you selected for the event. We got one coupon of drink which I chose their white sangria. It tasted more like a cider water down since it was pre-batched, but not bad. It’s a lot smaller than I expected for a brewery and it looked like you could only fit perhaps 50 people on 6 really long tables. It’s definitely a nice vibe to sit and chitchat but nothing crazy.
I had a fairly negative experience with the Holly Jolly Bar. Tickets are controlled by a third party with Harpoon unable to make any adjustments, refunds, or cancellations. The ticketing website does not notify you how many slots are available for the allotted time frame. With that being said, my group was NOT able to get tickets for the same time as the tickets became unavailable after two members had purchased. We tried to contact support, but they weren’t helpful and the response time was extremely slow. When the members with tickets went, the bar was still extremely overcrowded. Though the prior reservation time slot had ended, people aren’t forced to leave. There’s no wristbands or anything to signify what time slot you were in, so it’s a free for all. Even with a reservation it’s pretty unlikely you’ll be able to get a table with your group for this reason. They don’t allow walk up’s to the bar despite empty bar space on the other side of the event. Furthermore, the drinks were disappointing. I would not consider this to be worth what you pay for it. You’re better off going to a bar like Lord Hobo down the street where you can actually have holiday drinks, decorations, and sit with your entire group for as long as you please.
Short staffed. Tables not reserved even though you paid for tickets. 2 bar tenders and staff ignore you. Horrible time. Don’t come unless you like being miserable
The Christmas bar was super crowded, even if you pay ticket you don’t have where to seat ,drinks are horrible , don’t waste your money there.

This brewery was HUGE. We were not able to have a beer in the main beer hall because there was an admission only holiday event happening there. We were escorted to the much smaller, original tasting room through the brewery (which was cool to see all their equipment!). It had cool decor consisting of an old beer can collection from beers around the US. Our bartender was very nice and happily provided tastings.
There were games available on the back counter and a few high-top tables; some without seating. There was no seating available when we arrived but shortly after, two seats at the bar opened. More and more people kept arriving and the space felt more and more un-accommodating as the crowd grew. They could have fit more tables and seating in this area I thought.
Both beers I tried were awesome, especially the blueberry one! Very laid back ambiance; I'd definitely go again.
Taproom closed for a private event.
I don’t know about other place but in Boston this holly jolly bar is so disappointing me no decor at all, you guys are uploading different videos to cheating people
The brewery would be fun to visit, but went for the Holly Jolly Bar ($30 a ticket to get in). The festive cocktails were not very good. The beer was good. The appetizers were small and not very good. It was fun seeing the decorations, but definitely not worth the $30 entrance fee. Even with reservation a table was not designated for you and you had to wait at the bar to order food/beverages.
What's going on??? We stopped by yesterday to get our favorite beer and pretzels only to find they were closed until 3...supposed to open at noon. Today we make another trip out only to find the front area closed and only 2 pretzel dip flavors. Very disappointed...at least advertise the changes. Are they permanent or temporary?
